About a year ago I decided it was time for a more drastic piercing than my ears or tongue. Besides it had been 2 or 3 years since my last piercing had been done. And I guess I kind of have that piercing addiction going on.

I think they look great, and it looked pretty painless for the most part. I would like to do a prince albert but from what I am told, it's not fun to use the little boys room after having that done.
I have done several piercings in the past for friends including 4 or 5 tongues, countless ears, 3 eyebrows, 2 navels, and 3 nipples ( I am not certified) and I haven't had any problems. But keep in mind, though not certified, I have done my homework.
Also, I plan to get the foreskin done soon, but I will leave that to a professional. That will be more for the female sexual satisfaction than for looks. With a scrotal, it is just for looks and with thin skin, and looking quite painless, it seemed the way to go. The foreskin, well let's just say it may be the rings, but my balls just don't seem big enough to do that myself.
So anyway, I called a friend of mine one day and said "man, I just got my needles in the mail along with my jewelry, I need to stick myself. Being the awesome friend you are, will you do me a huge favor and hold my sack while I pierce it?" Being the true friend he is, he obliged. Of course all the typical jokes from friends followed for several weeks after.
So my ex girlfriend and I drove over, had a beer or two (no I am not dumb enough to get intoxicated before driving hollow spikes in my nuts) and proceeded to get comfy. I marked the spots with purple dots and pierced 14 gauge needles through, followed by a captive bead ring. Let me say one thing about captive bead rings, I hate them. They are a pain to change and if you drop that little ball, it's all over. I think the pain in my fingers putting those little balls in place hurt worse than any of the three needles.
I placed one of the rings in the center, about an inch and a half up the shaft, and one to either side of it. The first two went through real smooth but the third time I had pushed the needle out of the hole with the ring before the ring was all the way through. I mentally panicked to a point, but physically I kept my cool. I was thinking "Oh shit I have to pierce it again!" but thankfully a small drop of blood showed me the exit hole and it slid right through after a couple twists.
When they were all in place my bud immediately said "You are the man!" I stood up with all that adrenaline, looked at him and asked "You wanna fuck with ME?" Of coarse I was only kidding, since he out weighs me by almost 200 pounds. (He's huge)
Now a year later, the center one was replaced with a 12 gauge horseshoe ring, and looks great. The side ones where taken out a couple months after because one of them grew out. I cleaned them as I should and did all the proper care techniques, but my body rejected that one anyway. The total time for it to heal was only about 8 weeks or so, but shaving phobia lasted much longer. Something about a razor near my scrotal piercing scares the hell out of me.
I don't recommend self piercing to anyone that is not a professional, but if you are to do it, make sure to do all your homework until you get bored with it, then do even more homework. There are some real good videos and web sites out there. And make sure if you buy any needles online that they are sterilized. A lot of people sell non sterilized needles. But seriously, most people are much better off paying the small fee it takes for a professional to do it. Plus you will have the comfort of someone that knows what they are doing telling you about the after care and also letting you know that it will not hurt much. The other benefit comes with not knowing the exact moment it is going through. Obviously doing it yourself, you are denied this luxury.
Tonight I am doing my Labret. I am actually more nervous about that than I was with the scrotal. Oh well. It'll feel good I'm sure :)
