I recently have gotten very much into tattoos. So when my friend and I go down to the beach for the week, naturally we find the local tat parlor. My friend, as it would turn out, has also looked into a few piercings, and decided to get a "hafada," which is a piercing on your, well, ball sack. While I was looking at all the different tat flash and talking to an artist about a koi, my friend went and got a hafada. I happened to have a 10 dollar coupon for the place which we had picked up at a local surf shop and felt like doing something "extreme," if that is indeed the right word. For two days my friend would not stop talking about it. Eventually he talked me into getting it, although it was more of a challenge than anything else. Like a, "you don't have guts to get it," type thing. That and the fact that I did not want the 10 bucks off to go to waste. Needless to say I did it, and am quite happy with the experience.

Now first, the pain issue. As Mark, my peircer, told me, it's just hard to imagine something going through the skin on your ball not hurting. Of course, it being my first piercing, I had nothing to compare what this "simple prick" would be like, so as you can imagine I was quite nervous. I mean, I was laying there with my garbage hanging out waiting for a small metal rod to be pushed through a rather tender place. I was laying there, my hands clenched rather tightly on the back of the thing I was laying on, and when mark started counting back from 3, I clenched my teeth harder than I would have thought possible. Of course he did kind of trick me, because there was no 1, he just did it at 2, I guess to surprise me out of the pain and take away whatever dread I had. When I felt it go in, I was like "F*CK," then was like, wait, that's it? Seriously, after the prick, and a few seconds of "ouch," the pain is gone. Then he put the ring in and all that, and as simple as that, I ha d a piercing. I have heard though that the pain can increase depending on where you get it. Like in some places the skin is thicker, and will naturally hurt more. Of course I felt ashamed for saying anything out loud, especially when I looked up and saw Mark holding back laughter, and heard a few chuckles from beyond the curtain. Of course, to add insult to the injury, on my way out I noticed a sign above the mirror on the far wall that had the word "whining" on it in big bold letters with a large circle and slash over it, like the kind you see on no smoking signs.
Easily the worst part of the whole thing was just getting naked while this guy is putting stuff on my stuff and pinching it and doing all sorts of things. But it was not as bad as I, and most you out there, will think. He was very professional about it. Mark did put me at ease though, talking to me the whole time, telling funny stories about guys who popped boners, yelled, or other wise embarrassed themselves.
Mark then told me how to care for it. He said to go out and buy a think of bactine, and using Q-tips, use it to clean the piercing and all twice a day, for 6 weeks. Also to use antibacterial soap in the shower, and wash it for roughly 60 seconds each shower. He also told me that Jacuzzis are not that hot of an idea, but the ocean and pools are just fine. Lakes he said use my own judgment. If it's a well used lake, it should be ok, but if it's like stagnant or dirty, don't risk it. Of course I asked him about sex and all that, if I could while it was healing and all, and he told me that I should be fine, although I have heard that having a hard on causes all the blood to go to your shaft, which could make the piercing bleed. After the first day, I could not even feel it while walking around.
Having my new piercing is quite nice, I must say. like when the days over with, and your just laying there on the couch, it's hard not to just put your hand down your pants and just play with it, rotating it and such. But let me tell you, having your boxers or pants somehow get caught on it, or like pull it or something in any way, while its still healing at least, can be the most terrifying feeling there is. I got up from the couch real fast and I felt a slight tug and froze in terror, thinking that the piercing had somehow ripped out. Now I can not wait to show some of the girls on campus...heh heh heh.
However, there is one thing mark didn't mention, and that is how to take it out and how to change it for another ring, so if anyone out there knows, please feel free to email me at bigrhys24@hotmail.com .
