Well let me start off by saying a little about myself. I'm a 17 year old male. I live in the state of Georgia. I've been reading experiences off of BME for about two years now, and I love the site I think it's the greatest for body mods. Prior to this experience I've had my eyebrow done when I was 15, (It eventually migrated). And my Labret after that at the same age, which I still have. Okay so on with the story.
After reading all of the experiences off of BME for scrotals I decided I was going to do it, after recently getting fired from my job, I thought it was time for a change. But how was I going to do it you ask? Well I didn't want a complete stranger to do it for me as most guys don't, so I figured self done was the way for me. So about a month ago I walked down to my local piercing shop expecting to get some flak for wanting to do it myself. Quite the opposite happened though to my surprise.
As I walked into Lucky 13 I talked to this very helpful guy named Phillip. I told him I wanted a 14-gauge needle. He asked what I was going to pierce and I said my scrotum. He seemed pretty cool to the idea of it, but stated that the needle would cost $10 to try and turn people off to the idea of self doing. Anyways I told him it was cool and we got to talking and he asked what kind of jewelry was I using. I told him a CBR that I never used with my Labret. He said it was O.K. and all, but suggested I use a curved barbell and he offered for $20 more a set with a 14-gauge needle and barbell. He then gave me a squeeze bottle with saline solution in it for the crusties. And a gel-like material for the needle, (he said all I would feel was the initial prick). Also for my CBR he gave me this clear liquid and told me to soak it in it. His exact words were : "This sh*t will kill anything". And answered all the questions that I had for him. So I thanked him and was on my merry way.< p> Finally my dream was about to become a reality. I set everything out and was ready to go, (I had previously shaved my scrotum), so everything was good to go. I lined up my marks and placed the needle next to the skin. I could feel it slightly poking me, and my adrenaline started flowing. But I said "F*ck it" and slowly slid the needle through. Whoa! What a rush I thought as it slowly ripped though the other side and finally it was through. I sat back for a few moments and admired my handy work, and let my adrenaline stop flowing so much. It was beautiful I thought to myself as I was ready to slide the jewelry through. But my hands were shaking so bad I couldn't keep the barbell against it long enough for it to slide through. So after soaking my CBR in that liquid, (Wavocide I believe), I took it out and dried it off and touched it to the needle. SUCCESS!!! So I slid it through and viola there it was a circular piece of metal through my sac. I was so proud I could barely pop the ball on.
But then I noticed something. It wasn't deep enough. SH*T!!! I thought, but I let it slide for now. So, about a week later I thought it was getting lonely down there and I decided to put the barbell above it, deeper this time of course. This time, once again, I set everything up and, pinch – rip – pop it was done. I didn't feel a thing this time, it didn't even hurt when the jewelry was through. After calming down I slowly slid the needle and jewelry through and – BAM – it was done I just screwed on the ball and it was over.
Sadly though I eventually took the CBR out because I felt it would migrate. Then, a couple of weeks later I thought I would redo it. Now, for all of you out there keeping count you'll realize that this is the 3rd time I've used this needle, ( I know, I know not the brightest idea, huh?). But I tried to sterilize it the best I could, anti-bacterial soap and rubbing alcohol, (again, I know not the brightest idea). Now this time I decided to do it as deep as the curved barbell. Big mistake. When it was over it wouldn't fall down like it should it stuck straight up and I noticed almost immediate swelling. So I cleaned it like usual, and after about 2 days go by the swelling is even bigger, also there's a big hard lump in-between the two, (I assume it was an abscess). Well by this I knew something was wrong and I tried squeezing the painful lump and a small amount of puss would come out. So then I decided if I took the jewelry out I could squeeze more puss out. Much to my avail it didn't work, but I noticed almost immediately the swelling and lump were decreasing in size. I decided to let it go for a day while soaking in warm sea salt water and washing with Dial, and slowly but surely it went away. So now I just have the curved barbell and I think when I do more again, with new needles of course, they will be with curved barbells as well.
So now you might ask : "Would I suggest this to anybody?" That's a tough one, if you have common sense and have done your home work and have the proper equipment, I'd say more power to ya. But if your some naïve kid who wants to do it with a sewing needle and your moms studs I would have to strongly suggest to wait it out and either have it done professionally or get the proper equipment and study, study, study.
If you can learn anything from my story it's that use the pre-packed sterile needle one time only, and I mean: ONE TIME ONLY!!!! I was lucky something much, much worse didn't happen. Thanks for your time and I hope you learned something valuable, I know I did. = )
