I wouldn't call myself heavily modified, 6ga tongue, 10ga lobes, but the people I hang out with would think I am. I have numerous tattoos, some fairly large, and in what some people would call painful places, top of my foot, inside of wrist, neck. I think I have a decent tolerance to pain. I once fell asleep during a 6 hour session on the lower portion of my full sleeve and sat for 3 full hours for the underside of my upper arm, I have to admit, that did hurt a little. I think I can handle most things that I would want to have done to my body, so the thought of genital piercing doesn't scare me all that much.

My girlfriend has a horizontal hood and she loves it, she is very excited about my interest in getting something done. I have been reading a lot of other experiences here on BME and after speaking to my piercer I have decided on getting a centered hafada. I went to the shop and discussed healing, jewelry options, and even checked out two that he did on someone that works there. I decided on a curved barbell both for looks and hopefully its ability to fight off snags. My piercer told me he prefers to do them with 10ga and that's fine with me. I picked out a 10ga curved barbell for him to have ready and made an appointment for today at 6pm. Well, it's just after lunch and I am going crazy, time couldn't go by any slower.
Well, I left work a little while ago, thinking that waiting at home would be better, it's actually worse because I don't have anything to do but pace around and think about it even more. I just took a nice long, hot shower, making sure to shave as it might be a few days before I can again. Now I'm ready, just have to wait for my girlfriend to get home from work... just have to wait... just a little more waiting... Waiting sucks!
Girlfriend showed up just in time, we made it there with five minutes to spare. A person that apprenticed under my regular piercer was going to do it. He was cool, we talked about stuff, his PA and it's healing, that he used to be a mechanical engineer, showed off our tattoos. So I sat up on the table that he put in the upright position with my pants around my ankles. He measured and marked the location and I verified that it was where I wanted it to be. He then lined up the marks and clamped it, which wasn't as uncomfortable as I read it would be. We did the whole breathing slowly thing then BAM and the needle was through. It was certainly painful, but not all that bad. He pushed the barbell through which stung a bit and then I just sat there with my package hanging out for a while to settle down. I was so wired my leg wouldn't stop bouncing on the table. It did bleed a bit, mostly out of the left side only but it wasn't bad. I put a paper towel in front of it and pulled up my briefs, missing my boxers already, got dressed and we were out of there. We came home and now its just time to relax, gotta work in the morning.
I had some dinner and couldn't help but keep looking at it, still bleeding a bit but maybe just from moving around so much. One has to consider the fact that when a guy sees blood in his underwear, it is a bit disturbing to him, not something he sees often. I was a little worried about it but my girlfriend is my voice of reason and she assured me that it was normal and would stop by morning, she said her hood bled a bit like that. I stretched out on the couch and watched some TV before bed.
Woke up this morning, no more blood. Took a nice long, hot shower and washed it with the suggested Dial Antibacterial soap. All the crusties came off and its still pretty tender, I think I will wait until I soak it tonight to attempt to move it around. Walking is interesting, paranoid that I am going to hurt it so I am walking kind of funny, hopefully everyone important at work will take off early being friday and all.
The weekend went well, no more blood and was able to move it around a little when in the shower. Soaking didn't work out very well though, because of it's location it is very hard to submerse in water so it looks like I will stick to long hot showers to clean it up and the occasional soaking attempt. It does sting quite a bit when moving it around but not more than I would expect. Had sex on Saturday, just had to be careful. Didn't feel any enhanced feelings but my girlfriend did mention however that the sight of it had wonderful effects on her. As I'm sitting here at work it's stinging a little but not unbearable.
It's been a week now. The little bit of swelling has gone down. I have been washing it twice a day in the shower with Dial and that seems to be working out fine. The few saltwater soaks however irritated it quite a bit so I have stopped those. I find that when I don't have time for a shower a square cotton pad soaked in warm water and applied to the area for a few minutes softens up any crusties making them easy to remove with a cotton swab. I have been taking a zinc supplement every day as well. The tenderness has mostly gone away at this point, I'm starting to actually forget it's there.
Overall, I would recommend this piercing to anyone, not debilitating as it heals, looks awesome and didn't really hurt all that much, I'm very happy with it. I hope the healing continues as well as it has so far.
Funny side note to this story: While at a friend from work's house having a few drinks this weekend, someone got on the subject of getting forwarded disgusting pictures in their email by friends. As we were talking about it one person logged in and brought up an image he was referring to, a hard cock with a scrotal and frenum ladder and a PA. As everyone crowded around the monitor and gave their opinions of how gross it was, my girlfriend just reached back and gave my leg one of those, "if they only knew," kind of squeezes.
