Anyone thinking about getting thier scrotum pierced should go for it.

I was thinking about getting my scrotum done for about a year. My parents informed me that if I were to get another piercing past my tongue, I'd be paying my own insurance. So I decided to for a piercing that they wouldn't see. The perfect place, I decided, would be below the belt.

I've been into piercing ever since I got my first cartilage piercing. I got that done and have been hooked since. After my first cartilage, I went to my lobe. Then the other lobe then another cartilage on my right ear. 18th birthday rolled around and I got another cartilage piercing on both ears. Got to college, and got bored one day and did both my lobes myself. (not recommeded by any means). I was content until two weeks before Thanksgiving of 2001 when I decided to get my tongue done. I got that pierced at Studio 13 in Clarion, PA where I attend Clarion University. I told my parents about that and they flipped and said no more. I knew it wasn't the end of my piercing career.

On March 20th, I decided to go through with the idea of getting my guiche (scrotum) piercing. I went down to Studio 13 and talked to Glen and asked him what I would be needing for after care. He told me Betadine and Dial Anti-bacterial soap. Went to the Wal-Mart down the road and got the both. Went back to Studio 13 and it was time for the pain (or so I thought). I asked him what he pierced with, either 14, 12 or 10 gauge. He looked at me like I was crazy when I said 10 and said that the highest they did scrotum piercing with was 12. So I opted for the 12 gauge and the look on everyone's faces was priceless.

I was extremely nervous because these are my jewels we're talking about and I was starting to have 2nd thoughts about it. Glen got everything together and told me it was time. He asked me where I'd like it placed so that I liked the placement both when I was limp and flaccid. I told him center on the front of the scrotum. He got out the marker, put to little dots on either side of the crease on the front of the scrotum, applied the iodine solution stuff, put the clamps on (that part wasn't the most comfortable but it was definetley not painful) and got ready to pierce. He put a little blue stopper on the right side of my scrotum and lined up the hollow 12-gauge needle on the left. I put my head back, he told me to take a deep breath in, I did. Told me to let it out, I did, and bam he popped it through. It went through with a sharp sting that made my legs tense up but that was the only pain I felt throughout the entire procedure. I looked down and watched him put the hoop through, he put the ball in and that was it. No pain after the initial sting and it looked phat as shit. I got up, put my pants back on, and went to take a piss. I got to the bathroom and there was a little bleeding but nothing major.

After care really isn't much of a problem either. I've got a sheet that lists what to do. The first 4 weeks is clean off any crusties, wash the skin with antibacterial soap and betadine. That's 4 times a day. Takes about 5 minutes to do the whole procedure and all you have to do is whip em out, get em wet, and wash em off. The 2 weeks after that is clean off any crusties and wash the piercing with antibacterial soap and betadine. Another very important part of the aftercare is don't touch your jewelry unless you've washed your hands directly before hand. You don't want to be getting any kind of infection on your scrotum. That could seriously mess things up down the line.

Overall it was a fun time and I'm really proud of myself for going through with it. As soon as I got back from the piercing studio, everyone was asking to see it, and of course, I'd show it to them. I didn't get it done so no one would see it. I show it loud and proud. It's a great time. Everyone I've told so far doesn't really believe me because they haven't seen it. But hey, that's life.

I'm seriously thinking about starting my "scrotal ladder" of piercings. I'm going to get at least two more for damn sure.

But again, anyone thinking of getting it done should really do it. It's cool as hell and I love it so very much. I wouldn't have gotten it done if I wouldn't have read through BME first. I come here everytime I'm looking to get a new piercing. I read about others experiences and what to expect and it always calms me down.
