Well to start of this was my first DIY piercing but it definitely won't be my last. I am only 16 so no studio would take me and although I could have easily picked up a fake ID and got it done (like my friend did a week ago) it was still pretty expensive. I was originally going to get it done professionally but after reading a few Do It Yourself frenum piercing stories on BME I decided to save the money and attempt it myself, what's the worst that could happen? I fuck it up, wait a while till it heals and then go get it done professionally!

Although you can get the frenum piercing any where on the shaft of the penis I decided to get it done right up through the coronal ridge, the bit of skin which attaches the penis head to the shaft of the cock. The best part about a dick piercing was that I could easily hide it from my parents.
Although this wasn't my first piercing experience it was my first and only one that I did myself. I have my lip pierced but that was in a studio and I have pierced my friend's ear about 3 times other then that I was on my own for this one. Ive always been interested in piercing in knowing that if I wanted to get rid of it all I have to do is let it heal over unlike a tattoo or scarification.
It was a Friday night and I was bored, I didn't plan on getting it done that night but in my boredom I decided to go through with it, because it wasn't planned I didn't have any of the right tools. In the end I armed myself with an 18 gauge needle (not proper piercing needle), some alcohol swipes and a Wikipedia definition of a coronal ridge. First off I cleaned the head of my penis using hand wash then cleaned it with the alcohol swipes, mainly focusing on the spot where I was going to pierce. I drew on two dots and popped the needle out of the packet. If your going to pierce anything your self make sure you use a sterilized needle! I pierced using my dominant hand (in my case being left) and pinched up the skin using my other hand. I pushed the needle in, it barley hurt. i stopped half way through and then after a second pushed out the other side. Make sure when you pierce it you have an erection because it you do it when your flaccid when you get hard it will stretch and hurt like hell!
I left the needle in and went for a piss. It didn't hurt at all at this stage. I waited about 10 minutes before I took it out twisting it every so often to keep it open. After the ten minutes was up I slide the needle out and put in a 16 gauge lip ring (which I sterilized first). The ring went in easy to my surprise; I thought it would hurt considering the needle was only 18 gauges. I then went and had a shower and cleaned the piercing using some lavender oil I got from the piercing shop that did my lip. I now clean it once a day.
The next day I went and brought a 16 gauge curved eye brow bar and slide that it and screwed both balls on tight. It's been over a week since I got my new piercing and I couldn't be happier. It hasn't bled, or hurt me once and it's easy to keep. I suggest this piercing to anyone who wants a genital mod and wants to do it themselves as its easy and barley hurts. Oh and the girlfriend loves it to :) After the success of my first genital piercing I plan on doing a few more. I want to stretch my current frenum piercing to a 14 gauge soon and then maybe some more, also I want to try do my own frenum ladder.
After reading a lot about after care and here are a few things Ive been doing. Try not to play around with it much, I know its fun but it increases the chance of infection, don't wear restrictive briefs get boxers, don't masturbate for at least a few days after you get it done, when having sex in the first few months be sure to wear a condom oh and oral sex increases the risk of infection. The healing process should be complete with 2 to 3 months and after that you can go crazy and try new jewelry such as cock rings and CBR's.
