A little background: My first piercings were done when I was in the UK, I had my tongue done in one place and 15 minutes later my left nipple and navel done in another (I'd have done them all in one place but they didn't do tongues in the second place and I'd already booked an appointment). They healed well, but I had a couple of problems with my nipple and navel, most probably caused by me working within a day or having them for 5 days straight and not getting any sleep, although a swim in a chlorine pool, the ocean, and then sunbathing cleared them up within a week whilst on vacation. Then last year I had a labret piercing done here in Toronto by the awesome guys at New Tribe (downtown Toronto) which healed perfectly within a week and a half.

Now for over 3 years I have wanted to get a lorum piercing, but it was never really practical for me to do so. I'm a European so dropping my pants in front of a complete stranger doesn't bother me one bit, the problem was that there were no decent piercing studios close to my house, and riding the Subway back from downtown Toronto with a fresh genital piercing didn't seem very appealing either. Especially when it's 30+ degrees outside and the TTC (Transit system in Toronto) not being the cleanest of places I didn't want to associate a shitty return home with an awesome piercing.

So I took matters into my own hand, literally. I ordered a 14ga needle from Precision Piercings along with some forceps, wipes, and a new CBR. I tried once, alone with my own marks for guides, and lets just say it turned out wonky (at an angle) so I removed it. The holes healed within 2 days, with no sign of the punctures that were made... I shit you not.

So with a good idea of how fast my sack appeared to heal I had my wife mark off entry and exit holes for the needle for round #2. I clamped the forceps in place and readied the needle.

Now this is the part that I thought was going to hurt, a LOT, but it didn't, not even in the slightest, the needle glided through my skin like warm butter and shot out the other side. With one final firm push the remainder of the needle's head came out and I admired my work... perfectly straight.

Out came the needle, in went the CBR, I had to get my wife to add the ball to the CBR because I was in no fit state to do it... why? I got an near instant rush the second the needle came out the other side, I felt tingly all over (in a good way) and even considered pushing the needle through again and starting a ladder. Sadly I held myself back, but there is always time to change that once this one heals.

Doing a Lorum piercing didn't hurt, at all. Now this isn't to say that I have a cast iron sack that bends all objects that come into contact with it and can be used to deflect bullets in a gun fight. Plucking a hair from the area where my lorum piercing now calls home brought tears to my eyes... piercing the same area was a walk in the park.

I woke up to some dried blood on my sack, and on the CBR, with some warm water and a bar of soap that went away within a minute or two. Right now I'm planning on letting it heal on it's own, I'll still be cleaning it of course and applying some bactine spray which some people say to do, others say not to, it takes away the itch that all guys get down there, and prevents me from scratching a fresh piercing with what could potentially be less then sanitary hands (you never know when that itch will pop up). But based on how fast the previous attempt healed, and my track record of healing most cuts, or punctures within 3 days I'm hoping it'll be healed completely even if the healing time is supposed to be between 1 and 2 months. ^_^

One thing I learned to stay away from is *name* soaked anything being left on the piercing for more time than is needed where *name* is a name of an antibacterial agent such as Bactine etc. While being clean is nice, the ice cold temperature of the bactine I was using left me with an ice cold sack and shooting pains that would have panicked anyone if they hadn't experienced it before. Removing the soaked material and putting some clothes back on brings things back to normal, thankfully, since I was starting to think I had passed out during the piercing and became a smurf (blue balls, get it? No? :()

If you're thinking about getting this done, do it, it looks great and you can finally wear a "(CBR Picture)Guess where?" t-shirt with pride. Although as with any piercings you should only do them yourself if you're crazy, experienced, or a bit of both, professional piercers should always be your first port of call!
