Well, I finally took the plunge. I had gotten tattoos before but always felt too scared to venture into body piercing. I had admired the look of certain body piercings for quite some time. I have been in a long-term relationship and never really considered a piercing in fear that my better half would be freaked out by one. When my partner came to me and told me that he was considering a piercing for himself I began to look at piercing in a more serious manner.

Now that I was looking into piercing in addition to my tattoos, I had the major question on my mind, where on my body do I get my first one? I work in education therefore, I couldn't get any surface piercing on my face or anything that obvious, besides surface face piercing are not really my thing. I decided that it would have to be something that can be covered. My partner had just gotten a nipple piercing and after he told me the pain he experienced, I decided to wait on that. I had always thought that Prince Alberts looked really sexy but was afraid of the pain in that as well.

A Frenum piercing! This is the one I would begin with. I knew where I wanted to get my piercing, now the question was who was going to do it? My partner had gotten his nipple pierced at Prix in West Hollywood/Beverly Hills by a guy named Roger "Rabbit". I was with my partner when he went to get this piercing and was able to get a feel for the studio as well as Roger. He not only put my partner at ease but in the back of my mind I was saying, "I like the way he works, I think I will get the frenum here."

I had already scheduled an appointment with one of the tattoo artists at that same studio to get another tattoo and had fully meant to get my piercing done the same day as my tattoo. The problem here was that Roger was not working the day I was in for my tattoo, there was another guy there that day. I had to wait a little while for my tattoo artist to show up and prepare meanwhile, I was observing how the other piercer interacted with potential clients and the other staff. He seemed like a nice enough guy but there was just something about him that made me feel uneasy. I decided that I would wait to get my piercing until Roger was there.

I came back with my partner for the piercing; having double-checked that Roger was working that day. I decided that I just wanted to get in there and get it done. The more I thought about it the more I feared the anticipated pain.

I feel that I should describe the studio a little here. This studio resembles a Beverly Hills Boutique. The floors are all dark hardwood, the walls are painted white, all the jewelry display cases are well-lighted glass displays, the rooms are very clean and sterile and there are certificates of medical training on the walls. Roger happens to be a trained EMT, which made me feel even more comfortable.

Back on track, the day of the piecing. Roger met us at the front counter and I told him what I wanted. He had me start on the official paperwork, ID and all. I wanted to pick out colored beads to go on the ends of the bar, the only matching pair they had was purple, not my first choice but better than silver. Roger had me come into the procedure room and he closed the door and blinds behind me. He had taken in two different sized bars not knowing which would fit me better yet. He was using 10g but wasn't sure what length. He told me that I didn't even need to take down my shorts all the way, just unzip and pull my "guy" out. He asked me to sit in the chair and he began laying everything out. He explained every part of the procedure to me. He took about 10-15 minute just to make sure the markings were as good as possible. He put on his piercing music and then he proceeded to tell me that I should just concentrate on my breathing. Breathe in through my nose and breathe long and slow out through my mouth. He told me he was ready to begin the piercing, asked me to let him know when I was ready. Knowing that the longer I thought about it the more chance I might chicken-out. I told him I was ready and he said that I will take two full-breaths and on the exhale of the second breathe he would insert the needle. I felt a small pinch, I know everyone says that but that's all it was. "Are you finished?" I asked. He said that he just needed to screw the other bead on.

I couldn't believe the big deal I made out of it in my head. I am already thinking of what my next piercing will be. The aftercare has been a little stressful, only because I am extremely cautious about the health of my penis. It bled for about 5-6 days later during cleanings but by the seventh day I didn't really notice it too much. I have not had any kind of sexual activity yet; I am hoping that the sensitivity will be slightly heightened now.
