When I got my first piercing just under 2 months ago, I was hooked, so I spent a lot of time deliberating my next one. I decided I couldn't go for something that would be mostly visible, as I preferred discrete piercings. So that basically left me with only two viable options; A tongue piercing, or a genital one. And as I had previously had a tongue web piercing I chose the latter.

Was my general response after researching all the different types of male genital piercings I could get. Before I found BME, I only really knew of a Prince Albert, and decided that the whole sitting-down-to-pee factor was too much. So I head to the Male Genital section of this very website to read about my other options.
Ampallangs, well I found them appalling. Dydoes and Dolphins? They displeased me. It seemed like the search for a genital piercing was over before it began. And then I found the Frenums. Fascinated by this piercing, I read most of the stories about the procedure and decided that this was the one for me! Not only because I thought it looked the most aesthetically pleasing, but also sounded like the least painful.
So my search went out for a decent piercing studio in Sheffield, and to my surprise I couldn't find many. Eventually, after a few recommendations from the locals, I was pointed in the direction of Thou Art. Although, not literally pointed in their direction, as it took me two trips through before I found it.
A rather friendly chap called Graham was behind the counter, so I went through the usual rigmarole of explaining what I wanted doing, asking about the procedure, and then filling out the relevant forms. I did have to wait a while before I could get it done, so this gave my nerves ample chance to betray me. I got the shakes, I kept feeling light headed and I was questioning myself as to whether it was the right thing to do. Then Graham told me we were good to go. Too late to back out now I thought.

So upstairs we went and he prepared the areas in front of me with his anti-microbial sprays, and dressed himself up in all his protective gear. He had donned gloves, an apron, and a little protective face mask. So the time had come for me to drop my pants, and let another man touch my penis. Out of the whole experience, this had to be the worst part. I said my nerves were betraying me earlier, and now it was the time for my penis to do the same and 'he' went and shrivelled up to the size of a cocktail sausage.
The thing that sticks in my memory the most, was the next part. I was lying down on the bench, and we had our Graham dressed up in his (quite frankly poor) Hannibal Lecter outfit moving closer to my shrunken penis, with a cocktail stick. My mind works in mysterious ways. Anyway, he marked me up, I agreed on the placement and the time came.
And boy did it shock me! I only really felt the initial breaking of the skin, but it was a touch more intense than I was expecting. Although thankfully, the pain didn't last as long as I thought it would. The next thing I knew he was fumbling around with a straight barbell. He informed me that the threading on part of it wasn't right, thankfully, it was fixed by swapping the bead rather than the bar. So all was finished, and I got my first proper look at it, and I was in love already! It looked just how I hoped it would, and I was looking forward to it healing. So I covered myself back up, and went back downstairs to pay. Where I also bought some Provon to clean it with.
I had heard problems with people getting their "Morning wood" in the night, and was almost dreading going to sleep. Thankfully, I wasn't awoken by any erection-related pain, but I did spot a couple of patched of blood on my sheets, which took some washing. It took about three days before the thing stopped seeping blood, but on the whole wasn't bad. About 10 days later I swapped the straight barbell for a curved one, and it looks and feels much better.
I didn't know this at the time, but the studio where I got it done has another branch here in Manchester, which I am pleased about as the environment was exceptionally clean and friendly, so I shall be making more visits to both in the future! One of main motivations for getting this piercing, for me anyway, was for the pleasure side of things too, but as yet I have not experienced intercourse since I got this done, so I cannot pass any judgement on that aspect!
