So here's the story of my Seventh piercing, starting with a little background--I got my cartilage done last year, and it was awesome, and that was my first non-lobe permanent piercing experience, and my fifth piercing overall. Having finished healing that, and being very happy with the way it turned out, I found myself wanting more piercings, thinking about all the piercing I'd look good with, weighing pros and cons of any given piercing, and I originally decided to get my tongue done next. Unfortunately, when the schoolyear at college ended I found myself living with my parents for the summer, and after my mom's history of freakouts over my ear piercings, the newest being my sixth piercing, a fifth lobe piercing, I decided getting one as visible as a tongue piercing might not be such a good idea. Eventually I came to the decision that I'd get a genital piercing, seeing as that's the one place I'm pretty much guaranteed to not have my parents find out about it.

I also decided to do it myself—my masochistic side manifesting, along with the fact that BME seems to have a good number of stories of successful self-done frenum piercings. With that in mind, I went shopping for jewelery and the needle. I ended up picking up a 14 gauge stainless steel barbell with little black gems on outward-facing sides of the balls, and I got myself an individually packaged 14 gauge sterile piercing needle. No safety pins for me ;P
Having bought jewelery and the needle, as well as a package of sterile latex cloves and a bottle of rubbing alcohol, I was ready. On the last night at my parents' house before I came back to college to start the new schoolyear, I went ahead with the piercing.
I went into the bathroom and turned on the shower as a cover, since my parents were home, washed my hands with anti-bacterial soap and then swabbed them with alcohol. I opened a fresh box of tissues and covered the counter with them, then opened the needle and the jewelery and laid them on my tissue-covered workspace. I also places out a few cotton swabs, some q-tips, and a couple loose tissues for cleaning and such, so I wouldn't have to handle anything extra once I started. I swabbed the underside of my penis with alcohol, judged where I wanted the piercing to go, and marked it with a blue pen. I changed my gloves just in case, swabbed the area again just in case, and picked up the needle.
Now the part you've all been waiting for—the piercing itself. I lay on my back so I wouldn't have to worry about getting dizzy, lined up the needle with the marks I had made, and began pushing it through. A 14 gauge needle doesn't look so scary when you just look at it, but it seems a lot thicker when you're pushing it slowly through your cock. I was sweating and more than a little nervous, but the pain really wasn't that bad. It definitely hurt, but I kept waiting for the unbearable moment of shocking, mind-numbing pain I expected and it never came. The hardest part of getting the needle through was the last bit—it just didn't seem to want to go through the last paper-thin layer of skin, and that scared me a little, but I just pushed harder and it went through with no increase in pain at all.
Now that the needle was through, and I had found it not nearly as traumatizing as I had expected, it was time to put the jewelery in. Here's where I made what I deem my only serious mistake—I had bought externally threaded jewelery. Trying to put the jewelery in hurt like a motherfucker, and I didn't start bleeding until I was trying to put it in. The threads kept getting caught, and I was getting really annoyed and honestly a little panicky; I came this far, was I really going to be stopped because I couldn't get the jewelery in? After spending about 15 minutes grappling with the pain and frustration of trying to get that damn barbell in, I finally just alcohol swabbed a 16 gauge ear loop and slid that in with no trouble at all. I cleaned up the blood, took my shower, flushed all the bloody tissues, cotton swabs, and q-tips, and went to bed. It ached mildly when I went to bed, and if I bumped it while moving it stung, but it wasn't too bad. The next morning, the piercing looking pretty healthy other than a little bruising (probably incurred by my stupid attempts with the barbell), I decided to see if the barbell would slip in. It went in no problem now, and felt more comfortable than CBR I had put in the night before.
It has now been almost 4 weeks since I did the piercing, and it seems to be fully healed, or close to it. I love the way it looks. I still clean it at least once a day just in case, because dealing with an infection down there would be the pits, but it's looking very good. My only advice for healing it is this; take stairs slowly, and skip any sort of sexual stimulation of your piercing while you're healing, the inside of the piercing is reaaaaally sensitive.
