I think every piercing should be gotten for a reason, and should be deeply personal.

this is a self piercing experience, i attempted to keep it safe, although some aspects of it were not. This is not meant as a 'how to' article, and as always 'do not try this at home'

History:
Remarkably the only piercing I got on a 'whim' was my surface stomach, and that's been the only one that's rejected. My reason for piercing my frenum has come out of a new found idea/religion/belief. Over the past year, I've found from having my tongue pierced, that I'm far more in touch with myself, and my ½" stretched lobe has given me a lot more self control over my body.

Reasons:
Each sense, links the physical world, to my mental/spiritual one, eg: your ears hear something in the physical world, and then translates it into your mental one. In the same way getting my tongue pierced, allowed my mental/spiritual self, to better control my physical body. After my failed surface stomach piercing, I'd been toying with the idea of another hidden piercing.

Location:
Ever since getting my tongue pierced, I've fallen in love with piercings, and my parents have disliked every single one I have got since then, up to the point where they've banned me getting anymore till I'm 18. So the only viable piercings left were septum, and genital as both are well hidden. After a lot of consideration, and talking to some of my friends the two drawbacks to a septum were: a lot of pain and the inevitable 'septum funk'. This now led me to research into different genital piercings.

One thing to bear in mind is I'm 16 and therefore going to a studio is totally out of the question. As any studio that would pierce me would inevitable be, less than a desirable cleanliness. Having no prior piercing experience, I would have to choose a relatively simple procedure. The first step of this was taking a good look at my little soldier and figuring out where would be the least painfull, and later most pleasurable place.

Through popular choice my first prodding with a sewing needle took place around where a PA would be positioned. This seemed quite painfull, and for a first DIY piercing, quite a few things could go wrong. Another thing that scared me was reading people experience of receiving tubes, and it just seemed too much to be doing with only 2 hands. My second choice was my balls, as I know these to be quite a fulfilling part of foreplay. But after one prod, I'll be damned if I'm taking a needle anywhere near those! Now at his point, you may consider me to have quite a low pain threshold, and you would be correct.

My final stop on my journey of prod was my frenum. Now, for the uncircumcised men among us, we all know the immense pleasure that can be found playing with the 'coronal ridge' (thank you BME encyclopedia for providing the correct terminology) and the frenum seemed a perfect place to pierce, just in the right place so that the bar and balls would just rub against it. And to my delight (and surprise) it felt relatively painless, I even broke the skin by mistake!

Research:
Now with the extremely unhygienic prodding over with, I moved onto research of the piercing (this is extremely important before getting any piercing, whether or not a skilled professional is going to perform it or yourself). BME played a massive, well the only part in this. After looking at the entry on the BME encyclopaedia, I read every frenum experience I could get my hand on. And after submitting a few images of my stretched ear to BME to gain entry to the extreme2 galleries, I went through hundreds of pictures of frenum piercings (now you must understand, looking at naked men, is not one of my favourite past times, so this took a fair bit of concentration). After that ordeal, I felt I knew enough to pierce it in the right place, safely, and with a very low risk of infection.

Acquirement of equipment:
Now, in the UK I haven't found many decent suppliers of body jewellery, as most of them are based in the states, although, bodyjewelleryshop.com is fairly decent and supplies a good range of jewellery. Saying this, I decided to go with eBay, as after spending hours on Google, I couldn't find anywhere in the UK to order needles from, so why not kill 3 birds with one stone, and buy needles, a clamp and jewellery from the worlds dodgiest website. Saying that all the jewellery I've received has been good quality (I finally decided on eyebrow bars as these were short, and curved so would fit the curves of my 'sausage' (I'm under 18 remember, using proper words is just to hard for me), the needles were blister packed and sterile, and the clamps were certainly powerful (found out the painfull way after going a little over board with the testing of them).

Preparation:
The jewellery I received, was undoubtedly not autoclaved, and so not sterile, so to combat this, I let them soak in surgical spirit (rubbing alcohol to you Americans) for 24 hours, now if that didn't kill most of the bacteria etc, god knows what else I could of done (short of buying an autoclave), I wiped down my stool to use as somewhere to put all my equipment and before you all complain and argue that my stool has had my bum sat on it for the past couple of year, I feel inclined to point out my bum is in fact very clean! So there! Anyway, after wiping over my stool, I cleaned my clamps, and 'tackle' (remember under 18), I played around a little more with the positioning o the clamps (I used an elastic band to keep a good pressure on my skin without absolutely killing it). After getting the clamps into what I considered a suitable place, I put a dot on either side of my frenum and took the clamps off; this allowed me to see where the bar would be positioned after all was said and done. My first 2 attempts at clamping and dotting, proved unsuccessful and I kept getting a spot too close to the edge of my frenum, and I was worried might improve the chances of it ripping out. The 3rd time I clamped; I took a lot more time over it, and got the placement of the dots spot on. Once again I cleaned my hands, clamp and tackle. (By the way, surgical spirits on the glans really, really, sting it feels so itchy, like its burning, probably a sign to me not to do it)

Procedure:
After cleaning my 'little soldier' he really lived up to his name, and duly shrank to the size of a pen lid. After a little coaxing by me had failed, I though fuck it, its taken me nearly 2 months to get to this stage, I clamped him, got my camera out (the only contaminant I touched, so if it gets infected and falls off, I blame it on you my Olympus!) and took a few shots. I then picked up the needle, and put it against my skin. My heart was racing, I was so nervous, yet excited. I slowly pushed it, it stretched the skin, and just scratched the surface. Now I thought to myself, this is no good. I have to just put up with the pain, and shove it through, after a deep breath I did. Now as I mentioned before I am a total wuss when it comes to pain, although strangely have no problem cutting. (I even passed out for a second when someone tried to pierce my ear with a blunt needle). But this, this was a surprise, no pain, the only things I can contribute this to is: the sharpness of the needle, the already burning sensation caused by the surgical spirit and adrenalin.

Now the actual piercing was over, came the jewellery insertion. I had been convinced this would be relatively simple and it was, but not for the same reasons. Now, i know needles are measured by their internal diameter, so a 14g bar should slide snugly inside a 14g needle, this was not the case. I tried butting the jewellery up against the end of the needle, and sliding it through, while taking the needle out. This is harder than it sounds as I still needed a hand for the clamp. God knows how I managed, but the short story, I failed at getting it through. Now with the needle out and lying on my bed, I had to try and get the jewellery through, and to my surprise, I just pushed it through the hole, no fuss. Then I simply screwed the other ball on, with minimal trouble, and all was done.

Afterwards: Its been, about 2 hours since I did it, and apart from the odd stinging pain I've felt nothing, no doubt this will change tomorrow and all through the night, I'll be screaming through my erection cycles. I have yet to experience an erection, and am actually quite scared of the thought, in case blood rushes out of the wound.

For my aftercare, I've learnt there's nothing better than saline solution, and well piss, for cleaning piercings, and as such I imagine I will be using the foremost more regularly.

This piercing has spurred me onto experimenting more with the DIY side of piercing, and my lonely frenum might lead to a frenum ladder see BME for future experiences.

And the 'no sex part for a couple of weeks' part of the frenum piercing doesn't bother me as, I have fairly recently broken up with a girlfriend, who turned out to be a lying cheating slut, so that's put me off relationships for some time, and thus sex.
