I have always been fascinated by piercings: not sure why. I am a pretty average guy with an average life and an average nine to five job. I have read BME for years and am captivated by the experiences that people post. I have a low tolerance for pain so the idea of me getting a piercing was pretty far-fetched. Then one day, I thought, hey why not.

I had been seriously considering getting a frenum piercing for about 3 months. Of all the male genital piercings, this seemed like the easiest to have done. Also, I liked the way it looked. No other reason- no getting in touch with my inner spirit, no "higher level" stuff... I did do alot (maybe too much) research on BME and other websites. I looked at pictures for placement, type of jewelry etc. I read every experience I could get my hands on.

Living in a small city, there are not alot of options as far as piercers go. I called a few other places but did not get the warm fuzzies with any of them. I decided on Mom's because they have been around for a while. I had gone to the studio on two previous occassions but a piercer able to do a frenum was not available. So I had this brilliant idea - I called first. Lo and behold, Marcel was available that day.

I went to the studio. There were several people around. Some had just finished. Some were looking at tattoo artwork binders. Marcel greeted me and told me he would see me once another customer was done. Another guy behind the counter started talking about frenum piercings and other male genital piercings. It was cool to actually talk to people who were interested in piercings. Not a common topic in my normal life. Once Marcel was ready, I paid my money ($75.00), provided a copy of my ID and signed a consent/release form.

Marcel brought me into a back room with a privacy curtain and a reclining chair. We talked a little about what I wanted. He definately was experienced and knowledgable about piercing. He was also very calming. He had done many frenums before.

He showed me a 14g barbell. He also showed me the unopened needle package and the sterilized clamp. I showed him about where I wanted the piercing placed. I dropped my shorts and reclined back in the chair. He told me step by step what was going to happen and that I would know well in advance of "it" happening. I was glad that he reclined the chair way back because I sure as hell did not want to see what was about to happen !

He spent a moment marking the spot for my piercing. A moment later I could feel the clamp. I had read experiences where this was painful, but I barely felt it being applied. He told me to breath in deeply then slowly exhale. At that point he pushed the needle through. I felt a slight pinch, but nothing more. He then inserted the jewelry and I was done. I could feel the jewelry go in but that was about it. There was no pain involved there. It was over before I knew it. I got dressed and thanked him. I didn't even look at it. I was given some aftercare instruction and a printout of the instructions.

I know this sounds strange, but when I got home, I was almost afraid to look at it. I got up my courage and took a peek. Wow, it looked exactly how I wanted it to look. The placement was perfect. I took a shower to start what I hope will be a smooth healing process.

I'll admit, I was sort of in a daze during the whole process as I was really nervous. However, although I have only had the piercing for a few hours, I am very pleased with the experience. I love the way it looks. There was no pain involved. It definately puts a smile on my face when I think about it.

Eventually, I would like to swap the barbell for maybe a bead ring or a curved barbell, but I definately want this to heal correctly before I think about a change.

Would I do it again ? In a minute. Will I get any other piercings ? Not sure... It was definately less painful than I thought it would be (maybe I was lucky). Don't think that I would get anything the general public could see. But....

To conclude, the whole experience was awesome. I would recommend this piercing to anyone thinking about a first time piercing. As you can tell, I am not exactly a "flowery" writer. But hopefully my experience will inspire someone who is a little unsure as to whether or not a frenum piecing, or any other piercing, is the right thing to do !
