I have always been really into tattoos, but never really had any contact with piercings. That is, until a girlfriend introduced me to BME. I became fascinated, but wasn't sure what I wanted. Tattoos and piercings alike, to me at least, should be for personal reasons, not purely aesthetic ones. I don't quite know when I decided to get pierced, I think it was more of a building process than one quick decision. But regardless, I decided to get something. I have no desire for facial piercings. Don't get me wrong, I think they look amazing on the right people; I just don't think they would fit my face. I don't want to deal with a tongue ring, and I'm a straight white male with a hair stomach, so a naval ring probably wouldn't be the greatest idea. I decided on nipples for my first piercings, because in life in general I like to go for something hard the first time so it's always much easier after that.
At A Glance Author Mike Contact Mike@bme.anon When It just happened Artist Penelope Studio Luckys Location Noho, MA The story behind those is a different one, so I'll just say that it went great; I was pierced by Nate at Mom's in downtown Amherst, MA. Go there if you're in the Noho/Amherst area, as they blow away all the other shops. Anyways, it is now a few months later and I decided I wanted to do something again. In my research I became completely fascinated with junk piercings. Ideally, I want a few frenums, a lorum, and a PA. To start off with, I wanted something more interesting than the lorum, and I cry like a bitch when I get soap in my peehole so I think I want to work up to the PA.
But the frenum was perfect. Not nearly as painful as nipples, (even though I thoroughly enjoyed getting the nips done), and very effective for its purpose. So I decided what to do, but wasn't sure when or where. Monday came, and being 5 days single after 2.5 year relationship, I embraced the mood of change and decided to do it. The next step was to meet all the potential piercers (you really need to do this before any piercing) Naturally I went to Mom's first, but they wouldn't do it. They do what they do wonderfully, but they don't do genitals. I believe the only real reason is that their shop is basically a large open room, so there's not really privacy. There's a screen for nipple piercings if people want it, but that's it.
Next I drove to Lunar, because it was the closest. They were closed, which was no skin off my nose because I have heard many mixed reviews. I made my way to Lucky's in Northhampton. I'm not a huge fan of Lucky's because A. their prices are marked up way too much, and B. some of the people there are a bit cocky. But regardless, the work that comes out of here (piercings) at least is pretty impressive.
So I met Emerys, chatted for awhile, and decided to do it. The piercing itself was painless. I was disappointed it didn't hurt more. The next couple days, however, the pain just intensified. All around the piercing was bruised, and red, and sore. Gradually it looked like the amount of skin containing the piercing was shrinking, so I began to worry it was rejecting. I went back to Lucky's and talked to Penelope, their main piercer. Apparently she's kinda famous? I didn't know that until I went in and saw her on some magazine covers. Regardless, she knew her stuff. She took one look and said yea, that's rejecting. She popped it out, and we decided that she would repierce for free later that night. So I came back about 8:45, and we did it.
This time, it was done right. She did it deep enough that there is something besides outer skin to hold it in. She did it lower so it didn't move around as much (I'm not circumcised) She pierced it so the flesh basically covers all the barbell up to the beads, as opposed to before where only half the barbell was covered.
I know this one is going to stay where it's supposed to, it's just so much better. Literally, no pain whatsoever afterwards. No bruising, no swelling, no bleeding, nothing. I can 'touch it' without it being awkward, and salt baths don't make it sting (like with the first one). I am very satisfied with the followup and impressed with the customer service. It was no issue at all to repierce it for free, which was good considering I paid $85 including the tip for it the first time (like I said, one of my gripes with Lucky's is their price).
Anyways, so I love my frenum. I am going to get more. I'm not sure if I'll return to Lucky's, because I have a feew other shops in the area to check out. Western MA is a great place. In Northhampton, you can see live music every night of the week. You can go to a gay bar, a straight bar, get great coffee, get great food from any country in the world. You can find great books stores. You can shop at expensive boutiques. Or you can get your dick pierced. All pretty much within a mile of one another.
