I had been interested in getting a Dydoe piercing for some time.I had done a whole lot of research, most of it on this site in fact! I found people's experiences to be most informative and entertaining, so hopefully today I can give a portion of that back and help someone out! So as I was saying, I was researching Dydoe piercings when I accidentally clicked on a link to Frenum piercings, I have to say I was intrigued by them, although I was still leaning towards a Dydoe or two. So I talked to a few friends and they suggested that I just go with my gut feeling on which one I wanted. I am a really indesicive person, so at least I got it narrowed down to two different piercings! After reading more and more about Dydoe rejections and mis-haps, I decided to just go to a piercing studio and ask a few questions, maybe get one or the other done.

So finally I decided, probably Frenum, but I'd like to see if I can support a Dydoe...sometimes the ridge isn't defined enough to just get one on top, and although Eldo would eventually tell me I could get one sitting on the top with a curved barbell, he also informed me that it could grow out anytime within a month or year. So long story short, I ended up choosing a Frenum, and to be honest I was a little hesitant at first because in some pictures I had seen, a Frenum piercing or multiples looked very aggressive and almost threatening. I let my piercist know this and he understood completely and said he would do what he could to make it look subtle yet defined. I was satisfied.
In the piercing booth I sat on the table and dropped my pants, keeping my boxers on; I saw no reason to take my pants all the way off unless he needed the extra room to work, which he didnt, so it was cool. I laid back on the table after a five minute chat about what he was going to do, how he was gonna do it, etc. Once on my back I pulled out my penis...which wasnt such a scared turtle after all, and psyched myself up for the piercing. In all honesty, of all my piercings I was suprisingly most relaxed at this one. For what I consider to be a pretty "big" piercing the entire atmosphere of the shop made it so comfortable for me I wasnt the least bit nervous (I was more nervous to get my septum pierced at Zebra, in Berkeley!). No heavy metal on the radio or anything like that, I think they were playing AIR...but onto the piercing!
I laid on my back while he set up the clamps and unwrapped his needle. I think the needle was a 14 gauge that had a 10 gauge taper on it. At first I was super nervous about the idea of a ten gauge taper going through such a sensitive area, but they said you shouldnt do a Frenum piercing with less(think about how they cut a block of cheese with a string, was what they told me) and I was terrified at the idea of this barbell getting torn out! So after the clamps were over the markings he told me to take a deep breath and....whoa! It hurt quite a bit but only for a split second, as I figured the tapering part was what hurt but only for a split second.
I was able to immediately sit up and take in all the information on cleaning etc, but strangely enough after about a minute or so I started feeling the endorphin high. It's such a great feeling, especially after a very stressful week, it kind of just let all the tension out. So Eldo hooked me up with a bag of salt and I threw a nice tip his way for making me feel so relaxed and doing a really nice job on my first frenum piercing! As soon as I left the store I noticed no discomfort worth mentioning, I could walk fine, although I chose to walk a little bowlegged just to give it a little room...not to mention everytime the barbell hit my leg and rubbed, I would start to feel like i was about to get hard...which when I finally let happen, it was totally fine.
It's been a day now and it is already healing. I have been keeping myself super hydrated on tea and kombucha shots (to speed up the healing process), my first cleaning was really funny...tea bagging a glass of warm water while standing in front of a mirror is not something I really pictured myself ever doing! But after I cleaned it, it looked immaculate. It was just what wanted. When I woke up this morning I took a look at it and there were no crusties but it looks as if the skin around the piercing is slightly bruised...I expected this to happen, so it's not a big deal, but I'm hoping it will subside by tomorrow.
All in all this piercing was definetely one of the best I've ever experienced!
