Background:

I have been considering a genital piercing since freshman year of college; however, in my typical fashion my decision to get a mod usually has a couple of year lag time. Considering I wanted to pierce my nipple for 6 years before I got around to it, but I digress. I almost got a PA or a Frenum piercing at Undergrad, but for some reason or another I did not do it. Fast forward to law school, during law school I gained a lot of weight. I then proceeded to lose 45 pounds my second year of law school. I decided, that to reward myself I would get a tattoo and a piercing. The tattoo I have started to design and then on Saturday I went off and got a frenum piercing.

Research:

In my research for tattoo artist I cam across Sacred Tattoo. Though they ultimately did not become my first choice for the tattoo, I came across Brian Decker at Sacred Tattoo. Since I was doing research I emailed many different artists and asked them questions. I thought about going to MN and getting pierced when I went to visit a friend there. I decided that it probably would make since to get it done locally incase there were problems later. Being that I am a hypochondriac I am sure I will be freak out and be worried that it is infected. I am emailed Brian and he got back to me very quickly and answered every one of my questions. I decided to go in Saturday to check the place out and possibly get pierced dependent on how I felt physically since the weekend before I was under the weather.

The day:

On Saturday my girlfriend and I headed into the city. We spent the day at the Natural History Museum. After the museum closed we decided to head over to Sacred where Mr. Decker was busy with a client and told us to come back in an hour. We decided to use this time to look around China Town and Little Italy. An hour later we were back and the studio was slightly crowded with two gentlemen from Austria who had come for the Art and Fusion show. They were there for scarification so they were kind enough to allow us to go in front of us. There was also a couple there a girl who wanted a Nipple Piercing and here boyfriend who wanted a Frenum piercing.

Even though I have several other piercings I was quite nervous about this whole experience so when I asked questions I became more and more nervous. The questions were pretty standard: heal time, do I have to take off time from exercising, limits on sex, and aftercare. After having these questions answered and clearing the time off from sex with my girlfriend I filled out the paperwork. At this point I became almost hyper verbal because I was freaking out about the process. I am sure I must have sounded foolish, but I was about to have a 10 gauge needle slammed through the skin of my penis so I had a right to be nervous. As Brian autoclaved the materials I started to calm down some. Once he had autoclaved his supplies he had me drop my pants and expose my penis so he could mark it. Brian then marked and remarked the area where he was going to put the piercing. With his excellent bedside manner Brian was able to calm me down. I will admit this was slightly an awkward moment, just because I was about to have a very sharp object put through the skin of a very sensitive area. I also had worked myself up to think that this would be extremely painful so I was terrified. Once he finished marking, remarking and measuring it was time for the big moment. He had me take a breath and exhale slowly and the needle was through the skin. It felt like catching my penis in my zipper and then there was no pain. A second later the barbell was in and I was done. For all the workup for all the fear it was almost anti- climatic. I also had the endorphin rush that lasted for the rest of the evening. Brian then explained the aftercare to me. It is a very simple regimen of Saline soaks and common sense. No sex for 4 weeks(if I feel up to it then in 4 it is allowed), no touching etc. I then spoke briefly with the man who was going in to get pierced after me and told him how it does not hurt that bad at all. In the lobby I ended up running into Shawn Porter who was here for the art festival. This turned out to be emba "\Ãw€ë rrassing since he looked familiar, but I thought he was a grad student I know who goes to lots of metal shows. I spoke briefly with him after the piercing. After this it was off to dinner with my girlfriend and a couple of friends and then off to bed.

Conclusion

I would highly recommend Brian to anyone looking for a piercing because of his excellent bedside manner and precision piercing. Furthermore, I am very happy with this piercing and it looks great so far and minimal pain.
