The body art scene's a relatively new one for me. During high school I'd maintained a prudish mentality that body art and piercings were for attention hogs looking for shock value, or for criminals. Afterwards though, I came out of my shell, so to speak, and started viewing body art more acceptingly.

Tattoos were immediately the coolest thing that came to mind, but they're a lot more personal, I feel, than piercings. With nothing of particular importance to have tattooed, I basically left body art on the back burner until I came up with something personal enough to have done. Last summer, a friend and I were discussing body art, and the subject came around to piercings. Aesthetically, they do little for me, but I do appreciate the hardcore factor of the more intense/unique ones. Eventually we circled through the more interesting ones and came to genitalia piercings.
Being unfamiliar and uneducated to the plethora of different male genital piercings, we first broached the famous PA. I read about the potential sex perks, and was immediately interested. A built in sex toy! Great! But as I read more about the actual procedure, I got cold feet and backed off. I really wanted a genital piercing, but not one that went through so much damn muscle and tissue.
I continued to look for a less extreme piercing that might still hold similar bedroom benefits and came across the frenum piercing- a far less invasive and, hopefully, less painful piercing. That area of the penis always felt like it had plenty of loose skin any ways, so it couldn't be so bad. It was stretchy and really pretty thin, so I figured that would be the best place to go for a newbie such as myself.
Luckily I had a friend who wanted to get her own piercing too, so the experience wasn't so lonely. We went to Body Exotic and immediately the atmosphere wasn't quite soothing. I suppose I shouldn't have expected country hospitality or anything, but I wasn't prepared for the black and purple walls, with seemingly Oriental music playing in the background. Gongs and stuff.
Fortunately, the guy who did our piercings, Brian, seemed completely at ease with the whole thing; as well he should have. He did a good thing and talked about his long history of piercing, which was really comforting. Talking about his sex life wasn't so much, but I digress. He'd done over 27,000 piercings on over 22,000 people. So experience wasn't an issue with this fellow.
We went into the booth and closed the curtain. He tried to keep the conversation as light as possible, talking about his recent trip to London and so forth. I feigned interest as to be friendly and to keep a veil of strength. I pulled down my pants and he marked the entrance and exit points of the piercing. Afterwards, he applied some kind of surgical sterilizer ointment, I think. He placed the clamps over the two pen marks and stuck them together. There was a little stuffed animal that you could squeeze to release tension, whom I almost ripped in half. He pushed the needle in through the clamps and I looked down at this huge ass nail through my dick.
I don't remember there being much pain, just the shock of that big ass needle through my dick. Trust me, they're hard to imagine until you've gotten one done. The pain was pretty intense, but certainly tolerable.
He fit the 10 gauge piercing in where the needle was and voila. All done. Apparently a 10 gauge is relatively big. It sure looked freaking big at the time. Now it looks pretty normal.
It's amazing how much build up there is in the process of getting a piercing, at least in my case. From conception to actually going in, I'd waited about 2 weeks. So when the actual process of getting the piercing lasted about 2 minutes, in that regard it was a little unsatisfying. Not that I wanted prologed pain or anything like that, but to have such an intimate thing be done and it only lasting 2 minutes was a little bit of a let down.
No pain walking or any other nonsensical side effects I'd imagined going in. Just a piercing in my penis.
I waited about 2 weeks before the insatiable urge to have have a damn orgasm took over, so I did a bad thing and jacked off. It didn't really hurt at all and seemed fine. The piercer mentioned that sex and such didn't need to be held off, but probably should have waited for everything to heal. I was a bit concerned that the piercing might tear condoms, too, but no such problems. As far as the actual aide of the piercing in the bedroom? It works pretty well, apparently.
Now that the shock value of my piercing's worn off, and it's really set in, I can honestly say that I love it. Not only does it feel pretty darn hardcore having a genital piercing, but the bedroom benefits are pretty cool. Aesthetically I've come to like it as well, it's a nice little ornament.
Definitely recommend it to whoever's considering one!
