So there I was, sitting in the dentist-like chair in the studio. My pants at my ankles and my penis shrinking into itself. It must have been quite a sight to see me sitting there tugging at my penis asking it to come out so that the nice lady can shove a needle or two through it. But before we get to the actual piercing, let's get a little background info eh?
At A Glance Author mindspin Contact mindspin@bme.anon When Three months ago Artist Aren Studio Alien and Co Tattooing Location sioux falls, south dakota It all started about 7 months ago when I was talking to my friend about piercings. She told me she wanted her tongue pierced. I jokingly suggested that she get a genital piercing since they couldn't hurt that much. She told me if that's what I thought then I should just have my dick pierced. 'YUP' I thought, no way will I ever do that. Why would anybody in their right mind torture their genitals like that? Only crazy people I tell ya. But now the thought was in my mind.
Later that night I got online and decided to check out some of these genital piercings. Lo and behold I stumble onto BME. So I look up some definitions and learn about all the different male genital piercings. 'Yikes,' I thought to myself 'I never imagined a penis could be pierced so many different ways!' Now I was intrigued. I noticed the frenum looked appealing, didn't seem too extreme, and also seemed functional. So I began to read experiences. Then I read more. And then I read even more. I was really beginning to like this mod. I saw some pictures, and researched some more. I weighed the pros and the cons, and the pros definitely outweighed the cons. I mean, the only bad thing about this mod that I could think of was the healing time, which wasn't even bad at all. Now I wanted it...I needed it, I need two! No! I need three! No, no, no, let's just start with two. Two's a good number.
So I knew what I wanted, two 8 gauge frenums. Now I just needed money and a place to get it done. While I saved up some cash I researched a couple of studios in the Sioux Falls area. I never actually went into the studios, I just looked them up online and read people's experiences and comments about them. This was probably my first mistake, I should have gone to each studio and talked to the piecers. But I decided that Alien was the place to have it done. I had read and been told lots of good things about them.
One day I went in with my friend to talk to the piercer and tell them what I wanted and to ask a few questions. The studio was really nice and everyone was very, very friendly. Especially Aren, the piercer, she was really cool, and she showed me her portfolio. There were some good pictures of frenums in there, so I felt good about her. I also had questions to ask such as: what gauge will she pierce at, healing time, her procedure, and aftercare of the piercings etc. etc. I wanted to kind of 'test' her to see if her answers matched up with all the info I had researched. But I forgot most of these questions when I was actually there. Mistake number 2. Yeah I'm stupid like that.
Finally the day came when I felt I was ready to do this. Called my friend up and in we went. Man I was excited and nervous. I didn't get any butterflies until I walked into the studio and saw Aren (she's hot). So she handed me some forms to fill out while she went back and got everything ready. So I finished the forms, she came back out to the front and asked me if I was ready. I told her yeah. That's when she told me that she'd be piercing at a 14 gauge and that I could just stretch bigger later! 'Ohhh noo!' I thought, everything I had read told me that I should be pierced no smaller than a 10 to be safe. But I was so excited for this piercing and I really, really wanted it so I agreed with her and told myself I could always stretch later. DAMMIT, that would be mistake number 3.
I followed her back to the little room with the dentist-like chair. The room was very clean by the way, and she had Rancid playing so that was tight. She told me to drop my pants and get in the chair while she put gloves on and started opening the packages with the needles. And that brings us back to the beginning of this experience (see? Cool how I did that huh?)
So finally I was able pull my penis out of itself and hold it up so she could place the marks. I told her the area where I wanted each one. I wanted the top one about 3/4ths of an inch from the head, and the lower one about 3/4ths of an inch from the top one. She marked the entrance and exit holes while I held my penis keeping it from shrinking back into itself again. Here's where I made mistake number 4. She asked me if I like the placement, I looked at it for about 1 and a half seconds and told her it looked fine. I would later realize that they are both slightly off center. DAMMIT. But back to the piercing. She brought out the clamps and told me that this was the worst part of the entire thing. She put the clamps on and I didn't feel a thing. I was like 'oh...this is going to be a breeze.' She then told me to start breathing slowly so she can hear it. She then counted '1,2,3' and slid the first needle through. I'm not going to lie, it hurt. It felt like someone pushing a needle through the skin on my penis...weird huh? But when she stopped moving the needle the pain immediately stopped. She slid in the barbell with no problem, no pain, no blood, and said 'See, that wasn't so bad was it?' 'Um...sure..' I replied. (I didn't want to seem like a sissy, she's hot!) Then we did the second one, same procedure, same amount of pain, no blood at all which was cool, although I wasn't expecting much anyways.
I hopped off the bench, pulled up my pants and told her thanks. She handed me a piece of paper with the aftercare instructions on it, told me to wash with anti-bacterial soap twice a day, not to mess with it for 3-5 weeks, and to call or e-mail her if I have any questions. I said "Cool beans." We walked back to the front of the shop, I paid her, and tipped her. The whole thing probably took about 15-20 minutes.
Later that night I was looking at them, that's when I realized they were just a tad off center. It doesn't bother me that much, but perhaps I'll get them redone in the future. I believe they have healed fine. However the skin in between each hole has become a little bit shorter. I don't think it's rejection, I think that's just the skin healing around the edges. I also have been stretching, at the moment I'm waiting for a pair of 8 gauge barbells to come in so I can make my last stretch.
In retrospect, I made a few mistakes while preparing for this piercing. It's the first mod I've had done besides my ears. I should have 'shopped around' at all the studios. I should have been pierced with at least a 10 gauge. I should have asked more questions. And I should have considered the placement much better. It might have been a good idea to be erect when considering the placement, or maybe even to mark yourself beforehand so you know exactly where you want the holes. These are lessons I've learned and now I can make better decisions for future mods. Oh and by the way, I love the mod, and even though I made a few mistakes in getting it, I don't regret doing it at all. I'm already looking into my next mod, an 8 gauge apadravya. Woohoo!
