It all started about a week ago. After years of wanting to get a piercing I finally decided to go for it. So after I did a bit of research online (and for reasons unknown) I picked the frenum piercing. I knew that if I didn't go for it while the idea was fresh in my mind I would chicken out, so I contacted a local piercer to see if they did genital piercing...they did. So I went for it. Sandra at Native Arts Tat2 was totally great. She was very informative and has lots of experience in the art of body piercing.
At A Glance Author anonymous Contact anonymous@bme.anon When A week ago Artist Sandra Studio Native Arts Tat2 Location Canada I was a little apprehensive about getting this piercing because my foreskin is intact and I didn't find many reviews from people concerning this (that's why I am sharing this experience). But Sandra explained the whole procedure from where we could place it to the gauge of the needle. Before I knew it we were marking the dots for the entrance and exit holes. Make sure those dots are very straight because you don't want a lopsided barbell. We also made allowance for extra space on either side of the barbell for swelling and erections. I should also mention at this point that while having a female piercer I was worried about getting an erection during the procedure or something, but it's just like going to the doctor. And once that needle makes an appearance...well the term 'frightened turtle' comes to mind. For guys who are intact this piercing is positioned inside the foreskin however the placement is very important. You want to have it far enough down the shaft (awa y from the head) so that when the foreskin isn't retracted it doesn't press the jewelry against the head of the penis (not comfortable). Also, keep in mind that the jewelry can act as an anchor and keep the foreskin retracted even when the penis is flaccid. This can make for an even more sensitive healing period; however mine has since stretched and covers the jewelry most of the time now. I picked a 12 gauge curved barbell (half inch) but I would like to try something else after it heals (I'd like to hear from anyone with jewelry recommendations).
The procedure itself was not what I had expected at all. After the frenum area was cleaned and marked, the forceps were put in place. This was uncomfortable but not painful at all. Sandra got me to take a couple deep breaths and then on the second exhale the needle went through. I felt a sharp pain for a second, then minor discomfort when the jewelry went in. But that was it. The pain was quickly replaced with such a rush. It did bleed a little but that stopped almost instantly. I got up and examined my new piercing in the mirror then Sandra gave me the aftercare instructions and sent me on my way.
Because of where the piercing is, cleaning is very important (not that cleaning other piercings isn't important...I just think that the risk of infection in this particular area is higher for obvious reasons). As per my aftercare instructions I use 'bactine' medical spray that I picked up at walmart for 5 bucks. You just spray some into the cap and dip a q-tip in, then use one end of the q-tip to clean each side. It is also good to move the barbell back and forth to get the cleaner into the piercing. I usually do this 2-3 times daily. I also picked up some anti-bacterial soap for use in the shower. I was told not to go swimming until it heals and I took it one step further and even stayed out of the bath although I hear you can get a bath with sea salt (not table salt).
It has been about a week for me now and all in all I am very happy with the results. The first few days I was very aware that it was there but now I'm getting to the point where I can't notice it. The most painful part of the experience is not the needle but avoiding sex during the healing phase. In any case I would defiantly recommend this piercing to any guy and if you live in Alberta look up Sandra, she is great. Since getting this piercing I haven't told many people about it but of those i have told I've gotten mixed reactions. Usually I get the 'you did what?!'(which most likely would have been my response a month ago). But the main thing is that my wife loves it. So now my next adventure is to stretch it to an 8 gauge and maybe try out a frenum loop.
So like I said earlier, make sure you get the positioning right. Measure twice, cut (or in this case poke) once.
