I've always had an interest in body art and piercings. Never really felt any urge to get the more extreme stuff, but they were very nice to look at. I'd often spend a a while flipping through books on the subject while browsing in large bookstores (pretty pictures!).

Decided to start with something small, just in case I turned out to be a screamer. Well, I wasn't a screamer, and barely even noticed it. Healed up real well, never gave me a problem. Need to get the other ear done, though. (Guess what's on the schedule for tomorrow?)
Well, it's three years later, and I've finally managed to scrape up a enough testicular fortitude to get something else done. Not the ear, though. Oh, no. That's too easy. I decided to get something a bit more... painful.
I chose the frenum, based on personal squickiness and pictures. There's got to be SOMETHING that flap of skin is good for, and I think that's a good use for it. Besides, it's easily concealable, which is a plus. Of course, the fact that my girlfriend just adores shiny things was a perk. And titanium is pretty darn shiny.
I went into the local body shop (Maximum Ink) and asked about prices, information, etc. the week I decided that Yes, I was going to let someone stick a sharp needle and a length of metal through my dangly bits. First trip, I just looked around, talked to the owners (Jamie, mostly. She's a very good-natured person.) about what I was thinking about, got prices, etc.
The next week, I went down with a pocket full of money and a more then slightly nervous feeling in my gut. Jamie helped me pick out a piece of jewelery to decorate myself with and we finally settled on a one inch long, 12-gauge straight silver titanium barbell. Jamie took the barbell over and dropped it in disinfectant, and I engaged myself in reading and filling out the waiver form.
And finally.... Time to take the plunge. The professional nature both Jamie and Jason showed made my embarrassment totally non-existent, making it rather easy to drop the pants and pop into the chair. Jason started prepping his tools while Jamie marked each side of the ridge of the frenum with a small dot from a marker (purple, by the way), then Jason swabbed me down with a cleaning solution and handed Jamie a pair of clamps to pinch my skin and hold it in position. Jason assured me the clamp would be the worst part of it, most likely. He told me to take a deep breathe, hold it, then slowly let it out and.....
He LIED about the clamp being the worst. Oh boy, did he EVER lie. The needle hurt like HELL going through. Thankfully it was quickly through. Then came the shaft of the barbell, which they had to play with to get through the hole on the other side. Even more fun! Oh, but the best was yet to come.
Now, the clamp they used had a triangular hole in the grip, which they centered on the marks Jamie had made and punched the needle though, followed by the barbell. Jason had checked to make sure the bead on the barbell would go easily through the opening before clamping, just to be sure. But....as they were trying to pull the bead through the opening so they could pull off the clamp and attach the second bead, we found out something interesting.
The beads were two slightly (yet VERY important) sizes. I'll give you two guesses as to which bead Jason had unknowingly tested with. That's right, the smaller one. And the larger one...wouldn't fit through the opening. Which meant I now had a pair of clamps attached to my penis by a barbell. Not an optimal situation. Luckily, BOTH beads can be removed. So, it's just a matter of unscrewing the other one, slipping the clamp free, and screwing the beads back on, right?
Well, ever tried to do that? It's not fun. Luckily, I'd gone more or less numb. Besides for a few sharp twinges here and there, I didn't feel a thing while they got the bead off, followed by the clamp, then got the beads back on. Profuse apologies followed, along with instructions on how to take care of my new magnet holder.
A little ointment, a quick glance at the shiny bit, and a pulling up of my pants later, I was good to go. Didn't even hurt, really. Heck, still doesn't.
And now I have a nice, shiny new toy. Which is awesome. I think it looks great, it feels fine, and I'm overall very happy. Now, I just have to get the other ear done. I think Jamie and Jason can help me with that....
