I have wanted a frenum piercing for some time. Just something about it just looks kind of cute I think, just kind of looks like a bowtie or something. I had also been thinking about getting a scrotum piercing, at the base of my shaft, for the same reasons. I had been performing piercings on other people for about a year, and all the tools I need for a safe, clean piercing, and thanks to a small time involved in a nursing degree I some pretty good knowledge of aseptic techniques, I had been planning on performing this one on myself at some time. With the break up of a long lasting relationship, I realized that I probably wouldn't be having sex for a while, I figured it was time to finally get my frenum pierced. It was the first piercing I have ever performed on myself, I have had friends do most of my others.

This has always been the part of getting a new piercing which I find the most stressful. I had my working area set out, nice and sterile. With the clamps cooled, I clamped my scrotum area, and grabbed the needle out of its sheath. There I sat, with the needle aimed at the marks I made earlier, just waiting for the courage to shove it through.
I have done a heck of a lot of piercings on other people, with no hesitation to shove the needle through, but there is just something different that happens when you know that you are the one who is going to be feeling the pain. I told myself what I told most people when I pierced them, "take three deep breaths, and when you breath out the third I will pierce you". With this set out, I breathed in deep, and again. On the third breath I got ready and pushed the needle in. I have a number of piercings, and like I said, I've performed a number in my times, but watching myself push the needle through, and feeling the sting at the same time was just a new experience. It just connected the whole act, which had previously been separated in my mind.
This really wasn't painful at all, in fact it kind of resulted in a sort of orgasmic itch sensation going on. I placed the banana barbell, and got my ex-girlfriend to put the ball on (she's a pro at it). I cleaned it up and got ready for the next piercing.
I was expecting my frenum to be much more painful, which it why I left it for last. I always find that piercings are best when done in multiples, as the adrenalin release from the first always makes me ready to enjoy the next. And that's what happened here. I grabbed a clean sterile pair of clamps, and clamped my frenum. I took the needle in hand, and aimed at the area I had marked out, and again I hesitated. I sat there for a while, aiming up, and amping up to get this done. I had to tell myself again to take three deep breaths. On the third I watched myself push the needle through my frenum, and I watched as the point of the needle made it out the other side. I use I.V. catheter needles, so I pulled the needle out, leaving the plastic cover in. I got my scissors and clipped the plastic, and the rubber band I keep on my clamps, and removed the clamps. I put the jewellery in, and cleaned up.
And now I have a cute little banana barbell in my frenum, which looks like a little bowtie of sorts. It was definitely a great experience doing the piercing my self, and a great start to a whole new personal frontier of possible piercings.
Showing people is great, just watching the different responses that people give. People experienced in piercing just think it's great and stuff, that I finally got into the genital side of things. Some people find it weird, and others that you wouldn't expect say that they would love to get a frenum piercing as well. My dad just kind of finds the whole things a little weird, but he likes the way it looks and stuff.
I just got to say one more time, if you are going to get a genital piercing, and you have the ability to do it yourself, I have to totally recommend it. Piercing yourself, especially in such a personal area, is an amazing experience that every piercer should go through.
