I guess I'll give you a little background on myself before telling you about this experience. I have both of my ears pierced with 12 gauge CBRs. A 14g industrial in my right ear, and 14g labret. My tongue is pierced with a 10g barbell. I've always wanted to get something a little different and maybe a little more extreme done. I've checked out the few piercing studios in my small Arizona town, talking with the piercers and discussing sterility and technique with them. When I walked into Underground Body Piercing I immediately like the place. The studio was antiseptically clean, the people in it friendly, helpful, and courteous. I met with the piercer, Will, and talked with him about different piercings, and flipped through his portfolio. So I decided on Underground and talked to Will about my options on what to get done.

I told him about my desire to do something a little more out of the ordinary, and we began to discuss genital piercings. We talked about the pros and cons of each of the different genital piercings. I decided that I wanted to get a frenum. I thought that it looked the nicest of all the genital piercings, and would be a good start in case I wanted more.
So, once I had decided that a frenum was what I wanted, I told Will and he began to set up shop. I've had will do a few of my other piercings, so I know that he's meticulous about sterility. He pulled out the forceps, needle, barbell, and an assortment of other tools of his trade. When he was done, he called me over and asked me if I was ready. I told him that I was, he pulled the curtains shut behind me, and I dropped my pants.
Will started sterilizing my penis with alcohol and Bactine, having a little bit of a tough time holding it and sterilizing it, but eventually getting it completely done. Once the entry and exit holes were marked he placed the clamps and told me to start breathing in my mouth and out my nose to relax. And this point I started to get a little nervous, anticipating quite a lot of pain. Will comforted me, telling me that it wouldn't hurt as much as I was expecting. Seeing as I had gone to him a few times, I listened to him, and prepared myself to get pierced. Will told me to take a deep breath and quickly pushed the needle through. WOW! That didn't hurt quite as much as I had expected. Putting the jewelry though was quite a different experience. It didn't hurt that much, but stung quite a bit for a few minutes afterwards. After that, Will cleaned the area with alcohol, which stung, a lot. When he was done, I pulled up my drawers, paid the good man and walked tenderly home with my new piercing, my aftercare sheet and a smile on my face.
I found that the actual piercing itself wasn't as painful as I had expected, considering the part of my body that I was getting pierced I had expected not only quite a bit of pain, but also quite a bit of blood. I experienced neither the pain nor the blood. The piercing healed rather quickly. The initial pain that I felt receded in about two days. The discomfort began to fade quickly, and has long since disappeared completely. I washed the piercing every night first with hydrogen peroxide, washing that off with water, washed it again with liquid soap. Of all my piercings my frenum has given me the least trouble.
For anyone who's considering getting a genital piercing, I would highly recommend a frenum, the pain is marginal, and the healing time fairly quick. Of course, the biggest bonus for me is that I totally love the way it looks, and so does my girlfriend, who initially was a little skeptical about it.
I have since discovered that sex can be kind of difficult, my girlfriend is kind of small, and there is some initial discomfort, but after that, she loves it. I haven't noticed any problems with condoms other than getting them on and off, but some maneuvering of the piercing tends to solve that. My frenum has defiantly spiced up our sex life, and made things a lot more fun. I know right now that I'm going to go out and get a few more frenums, turn my first one into a whole ladder. I'm already thinking about which piercing I want to get next, and I know for sure that I'll go and get it at Underground, I've had nothing but great experiences there, and would recommend it to anyone that's in the area.
