I have been fascinated with body-modifications since I saw a photo of a fresh, chest-size rose tattoo in a magazine as an elementary or middle-school student. On the other hand, I a not a person that makes a big decision very lightly. I was 32 years old before I got my first tattoo, and that took me several years of researching the design and the right artist.

I had played with the thought for quite a while and BME had been a great resource of information. Plus, I chatted with several females and it seemed everybody who experienced it and those who didn't were positive enough so they would try it. So really no downside there. One night a girl I went out on a blind-date with mentioned that she was considering getting here tongue pierced. She had researched the studies on Atlanta and felt that Piercing Experience was most professional. So one night I had to go for a "consultation". Bryan, the Piercer made me feel very comfortable. He said it was the first piercing he did on himself (because his friends weren't willing to be his guinea pig on that one). He explained that it was easy to heal and a great experience. Well, I wasn't ready that night and he did not pressure me at all - he wanted it to be right for me. Now that I knew a bit better what to expect, I had to go home and do some more reading and talking to people.
So a few weeks later the idea had matured enough that I headed out to get it done. Piercing experience is set up so that there is only limited viewing traffic. Nevertheless, there were a few people there getting jewelry changed and I had to wait a little bit. Surprisingly, I was barely nervous - I definitely knew I wanted it and the time was right. Once it was my turn, Brian took me to the piercing room, measured and marked everything. Next, he took me to the counter to select the metal - I went for a 8 gauge barbell with the smaller of the two ball-sizes available (he also showed me 10 and 6 gauge). I had to wait a bit longer for the piece to autoclave. Once I was back in the room, Brian painfully watched out for cleanliness - the gloves he used for the actual piercing were actually purple (all others were white) and had been autoclaved with the jewelry.
Now it was time to lay down on the table. I didn't dare to watch while Brian got ready. At one point he tested the marking by poking against the skin and said that this was how it would feel like. Well, he was being nice but it was a definite understatement. When the needle went through I had to bite my teeth and jumped. But it was over in less than a second - he put in the barbell and I went to have a look. Just awesome!
I am not circumcised so I had to tuck away my latest addition before heading out. But my little friend in the pant was way too excited and we had to keep a cool-down period before I was ready. The funny thing was that all night one of the balls was trying to stick his head out - really looked funny. A couple of days later I had to go on a flight - and I tell you, there is no better place to check out a piercing like this than an airplane bathroom where you are really close to the mirror. At no time did I regret it.
Healing was really easy, two weeks and it was all good. Now I enjoy having it every time I go for a leak. I also check on it in between if nobody is watching. I told some people I know from BME already. As they know that I am a real slow mover they were really surprised when I presented them with the new facts. In two days I will have a date with a good friend of mine. She is always curious and I told here today about my new "surprise". So if you are reading this (even so it might be after the day), keep my fingers crossed that her curiosity prevails.
My frenum was such and easy experience that I might even consider going for a Prince Albert. For a long time I thought this would be way out of my ball-park. So this is a good examples that Brian was right that having a frenum would be a great experience where you learn a lot about yourself. Plus, it shows that you can grow with your experiences.
