Well after reading everyone's stories and experiences, I decided to get my frenum pierced. The Prince Albert looked like it hurt too much, and hearing about what it does when you take a whiz kinda put me off. But with the frenum, knowing that it wouldn't hurt so much and that healing is usually uneventful if the proper steps are taken encouraged me greatly in my piercing.

I'm a student and pretty low key in general. I look and dress pretty conservative. I come from a very religious background and wanted a way to rebel. I've never had any piercings before but decided I wanted one that I can secretly have. There is something that turns me on about nobody knowing that I have my family jewels pierced.

I went to a piercing place this morning in Berkeley but chickened out. I dont know but I felt really uncomfortable letting another person handle my stuff. I am sure a lot of other guys would feel this way, especially if you see that the piercer is a guy too. I walked around the store a little while looking at the jewelery that could fit on my member. One of the sales people finally asked if I needed help. Thinking back to this forum and what I have gathered on other sites, I told the guy at the counter that my friend wanted me to buy them a steel barbell, 1/2 inch long. He asked what it was for and I just said belly button or something...cant remember exactly. He handed me a 14 gauge bent barbell and I was on my way. (Paid 30 bucks for it). My heart started racing at the thought how it would look on my you know what. I thought it might be a little big at first but ended up being simply perfect.

My next stop was the drug store to pick up a needle. I ended up getting a multipack of sewing needles with various gauges. The lady at the register also commented that they looked like piercing needles:) I started walking around the aisles looking for rubbing alcohol. I also picked up some numbing gel in the form of canker sore / cold sore / toothache medication. (Active ingredient Benzocaine 20%). Even though I have a pretty high tolerance for pain, I figured that for $4.99 it would make the experience a little more enjoyable. (I don't know if the pastes would work as well since you usually need water to activate the benzocaine. I think gel or liquid would work better.)

I got real excited on my way home. I could not stop looking at the barbells and imagining how it would look on my stuff. I couldnt believe I was actually going to do it. I closed the door to my room and cleaned everything with antibacterial soap. I then put on some numbing gel and let it work for about 10 minutes. After a while I could pinch the skin with my fingernails and would hardly feel a thing. So when I finally worked up the courage, I pinched the spongy skin and sent the needle through.

I went very very slow. When the needle went through the first side the feeling was pretty good. I just wanted to get it through the second side now. The needle was getting harder to push through since the needle gets fatter. More pressure finally sent it thru. I just let it sit there for awhile while I it hit me that I finally had my thing pierced. All in all, the feeling of the needle is mildly painful but very exhilerating. And very tolerable.

Now that I had the needle through I had no idea how to get the barbell through. Everyone should think this through first! I decided to try pulling the needle back and sending thru the barbell from the other side. Bad Idea. This was very troublesome. The needle came back out but the barbell didnt follow it. Blood started coming out. I started wiping the blood with tissues and looking for the holes I had just made. I had trouble finding the holes but enventually found them. They looked like small pores and if you squeeze blood comes out. I had to calm down before I finally got the barbell through. My advice: if your needle comes out and your barbell is not in, just take a few deep breaths, relax, and start looking for the holes. It's frustrating but you need to stay calm.

It looks great and havent had any problems yet. But it's only been about an hour since I did it. I dont really notice that it's there. It just hangs down when you look for it in the mirror.

Thanks for all your help. I hope this helps others get up the courage to pierce themselves, it is one of the best feelings in the world.
