I first learned of a frenum while getting tattooed back home at a shop in Jonesboro, AR. I was getting some work done and the conversation of genital piercings came up since I already had my tongue and nipple pierced. Having seen the bloody precedural pictures of a Prince Albert I stated that it was too gross for me. The tattoo artist then suggested I get a frenum. He said it was more practical and the ladies liked it more.

So, after a couple years of talking about it and checking out all the pics and websites I could, I decided to go to my local tattoo shop here in NC. Butch has done most all of my artwork there and has several piercings himself so I got his opinion on the idea. He then had me sit down with Chad who has been doing body piercing for quite some time. He along with Butch are in the process of trying to make statewide regulations for Body Piercing in NC.

Chad sat and talked with me about all the possible problems that are involved with genital piercings, from swelling and infection, to jewelry rejection, and all the aftercare procedures. When I told him I wanted larger that a standard 14 gauge and asked him how big would he go he told me he would go as large as a 10 but that he did not have any 10 gauge barbells in stock. I also asked him about having a frenum ladder done and he suggested that to be on the safe side and going with such a large needle to do it two at a time. I figured if nothing else I would just have a double frenum if I decided not to finish the ladder after it healed. We set up a date and Chad ordered the 5/8 inch 10 gauge barbells.

The day of the appointment I made sure I was clean and showered and groomed. I called ahead to make sure Chad was ready and he said come on. When I get there I filled out the necessary paperwork and headed back into the room. Custom Tattoo has always had my praises for their cleanliness and the piercing room was no different. Chad covered the chair (from a dentist's office) in plastic and had me drop my shorts and lay down. Taking a pen, he marked the 4 holes for both piercings and gave me a mirror to check for placement. I thought they were a lil too close together and if I decided I wanted a ladder later on I wanted them to all be evenly spaced to go about 4 or 5 down. After gettign the dots in the right places, he set the vented forceps in place. Chad knowing how much I was into needles and having asked for the 10 gauge, held the needle close so I could see it. DAMN it seemed HUGE!!! I was all pumped up and ready to go. I felt as he placed the sharp needle against my skin. Chad looked up at me and asked if I was ready. "Oh Yeah," I said. A slight pinch and it was through. I look at Chad and said, its through, and he yep, it's in. He told me I would feel the threads of the barbell as they slid in behind the needle and ohhhhhh, was that a rush. I could almost count each one. The second one was just as easy and even went a little deeper and an even more intense rush.

After he was finished he asked me how I was feling and I told him I was just fine. Of course he could see that I was still up on a cloud. So I stood up, pulled up my pants, got breifed again on the aftercare, and went home. After I got home I coule not wait to have a look. When I ddi I found a little blood which stopped shortly thereafter and lil to no pain. I followed the aftercare procedures to the dot; washing 3 times a day and applying triple anitbiotic ointment.

Chad had told me the healing would take a few weeks and that sex and masterbation was safe as long as it did not cause bleeding or too much pain. I made it a whole week before masterbating and only 2 days after that before I had to give in with my g/f. Only minimal pain and no bleeding occured and DAMN what an AWESOME feeling. Since then I have enjoyed my 10 gauge frenums and am anticipating finishing the rest of my ladder as well as a few other genital piercings. Got any suggestions?

Thanks Chad and Butch at Custom Tattoo for their professionalism and to BME for allowing me to share this experience. I hope to have more to follow.

Sincerely,

Harley
