OK. I always thought I was pretty milktoast, but when a local piercer dropped 10% off coupons at my music store, I was slightly intrigued about this piercing thing. It didn't help that my (female) employees figured that I didn't have the balls to get pierced (and that they are all 10+ years younger than I am!) I definitely wanted a piercing that didn't show - this was for me, and not something to be part of the individualistic masses that all rebel in the same way.

I thought about getting a nipple pierced, but I am pretty active in martial arts and I didn't relish, 1) Doing a shoulder throw on 'that' side, or 2) Putting tape and bandage on my rather hairy chest. I wasn't really thinking I'd go through with the genital piercing, but after consulting with my piercer, it turned out that it would be the best choice for me.

I had heard that Amber at Smitty's Place was the piercer that often 'repaired' other piercer's fuck-ups. She was extensively pierced, and so cool and so professional that I didn't have any trouble discussing all my non-visible piercing options. I try to be fairly understated, but I never thought that I'd start my piercing experiences with my penis. If you are reading this from my part of the world, Amber is definitely worth calling for a consultation.

We discussed my options. After examining me and listening to me describe my athletic activities, my nipple was quickly eliminated, and we decided on the frenum. I am not particularly shy, so I dropped my pants and got the show on the road. From the outside, Smitty's is not the Taj Mahal, but they maintain spore testing on their autoclave, and Amber was very meticulous about her cleanliness and her procedures. I told her that while I had jumped out of airplanes before, if I saw the needle there was the distinct possibility that she'd be prying my big ass up off the floor, so she was really cool in managing the whole situation and letting me know what was going to happen and when.

She measured, marked, etc. and then exlplained to me which jewelry she felt would be right for me, and I went along with her choice. She explained to me the process and got to work. Marks are OK. Breathe in...Breathe out...clamp (never felt it.) Breathe in and hold it...sharp pain (kinda burning, but tolerable.) Hang on...jewelry in, balls on, and it was all over, "uh, you can breathe now..." I got a lovely little rush off of the pain, and there was no lingering pain at all. Personally, I think that the needles should be refrigerated prior to insertion, but what do I know...

I have been tending to it twice a day with salt-water drownings (picture reading a book for five minutes at a time while Mr. Happy bathes in a coffee cup full of warm salt water....) Then the shower and the Dial antibacterial soap thing. It dries it out and stings a bit, but is fun swishing the barbell back and forth while I'm cleaning and rinsing the thing. It's almost like it's my duty to play with myself in the shower...twice a day!

The piercing is now about a week old. I can feel it when I walk, and move around, but apart from the soap and the crusties, it has only been pleasurable. I have done a lot of falls, rolls, and free-fighting in martial arts and it hasn't bothered me a bit. I have played raquetball and run on the treadmill and it's been fine. I have been meticulous about keeping it clean, and so far it is cooperating.

All in all I'm tickled shitless that I did it. I have told a couple male friends about this and I could hear their balls shrinking up into their abdomen. The few women I have told are mildly intrigued and wonder about how something like this would feel in action. (I'd like to hear some feedback on how women respond to this piercing...) Myself, I like looking at it every time I take a whiz. I have gotten a few odd looks in the showers at the Y, but I think it's cool, and I'm keeping it!

PS - I found BME to be a great source for info prior to doing this. I must have read 100 stories about what went right, what went wrong, and what questions to ask. This was an indespensable resource for me to do this safely and enjoyably. It seems that there are a lot of hacks out there, and a lot of sub-standard shops. I know I was in kind of a daze once I got up the balls to do this, so I was glad that I didn't have to think up all the right questions on my own.

Finally, for what it's worth, once I started thinking about getting pierced, I felt the significance of my frenum before I even knew, 1) it had a name, and 2) nice young ladies would stick a needle through it for me. Spend some time FEELING what part of your body you'd like to enhance rather than letting your mind or your vanity decide for you.
