Genital piercing had never interested me at all until I heard about the frenum piercing. I had never even bothered to read about male genital piercings on BME, but I found out about frenums by reading the new additions and not knowing what a frenum piercing was. One story talked of a reverse frenum that a guy got for his wife, and it sounded interesting. I thought about getting it done for a week, and asked girls I knew what they thought of it. Most seemed in favor, and thats when I really started seriously considering it.

After a week of thinking about it I went down to Old Pasadena Tattoo & Piercing on my lunch hour and asked if they would do a frenum and how much it would cost, do I need an appointment, etc. They said $75, and no, I didnt need an appointment. I didn't have any money at the time, so I just decided to wait until I got paid. On Dec 24th, I got paid and decided to go get it done. I called up some girls I know to come with me,and drove to Old Town Pasadena.

We got there at 11:50am, and it wasn't open yet, the sign said it would open at 12. I had read that its good to have food before the piercing in case you get light headed, so we went to Jamba Juice and I got a smoothie. By now the shop was open and we went inside. I asked about getting a frenum piercing and they said their piercer wasn't there but that he would arrive at 1pm. So we hung out inside, and marvelled at the lame tattoos people sometimes get, the ones that look like they are straight out of a 80's hair band. At around 1:30pm, the piercer arrived. I told him I wanted a frenum, and he said he hadn't done any genital piercings in a while so he would need to take his time and it might take a while, but I said ok. I signed a form saying its my responsibility to take care of the piercing, and went to pick out jewellery. He picked out a 14ga. 3/4 in barbell, but I wanted to go bigger, so I got a 12ga 3/4in barbell.

After I selected the jewellery it was put in some cleaning solution and I had to wait for it to become sterile. After about 10 minutes I followed him to the room where the piercing would take place, but only 2 girls were allowed to come in with me (I brought 3 who all really wanted to see it done). The prep took a while, my penis was cleaned with a couple of different solutions, and then he started drawing the dots on with a sharpie for where the holes would be.He decided that the barbell should be just a little longer, just in case, so he went and got a longer barbell and put that in the cleaning solution (I unfortunately forgot to ask how long that one was). After he drew the dots and then erased them a couple times (with water), he found what looked good and asked me and the girls I was with to take a look and make sure everything looked straight. We said yes, and then he started getting the clamps ready. At this time, he decided that the 3rd girl I was with could come in and just stand right behind the two other girls, so she ended up getting to watch too. He put on the clamps, and adjusted them for a little bit until everything looked like it was lined up right. At this time, I was wondering how much this was going to hurt, becuase this was my first piercing. He told me how to breathe, and said I could close my eyes if I want, which I did. He also asked me to hold head the head of penis up for him while he pierced it. I was worried about jerking it when the needle first went through but I said ok. I closed my eyes, and started trying to breathe slowly. He kept on telling me to exhale slowly, but I was too excited and was breathing out really fast. Finally, I breathed out slowly and he pushed the needle through. There was definitely pain, and I dropped the head of my penis but luckily by then it didn't matter. The pain wasn't too bad, but I won't lie and say it didn't hurt. It really does compare to a bee sting, but its over in a couple seconds. He screwed on the ends of the barbell, and by this time it only stung a little. He told me how to clean it, and gave me a booklet, I tipped him, paid, and was off to go eat at Rubys.

If anyone is thinking about getting the frenum done, I would definitely say do it. The only thing I was worried about was half the experiences on BME were people that did it themselves or had tons of other piercings, so I didn't completely trust their opinion of how much it hurt. But it definitely isn't bad, and its all over in a couple seconds. And only go with people who you are comfortable letting you see your penis at its smallest, because it definitely does turtle up as people say.

Im going back next thursday to get my tongue done,and to take pictures of it, so hopefully soon I will have photos to mail in to BME.
