I had thought about getting a genital piercing for a couple months or so, after hearing about it from some friends, none of whome had gotten such a piercing. I decided I would do it. After a lot of consideration and asking questions on BME's BBS's, I decided on a "lower frenum", aka, "lorum" piercing.

A lorum is situated about where the scrotum meets the penis (by the way, my next experience might be listed under "hafada" for that reason—read on!). I figured this would be out of the way during sex, but would still look very nice and give me the option of wearing a ring that goes through the piercing and around the penis shaft. Next, all I had to do was find the right place and person to do it.

I called around to studios that seemed reputable. One place said a frenum was only on the upper side of the penis—that is not right. (The actual frenulum is a tendon-like thing directly under the glans; it is often destroyed during circumcision. Frenum piercings are any piercings along the shaft of the penis.) This place seemed more like a hairdresser than a piercing studio. I continued making phone calls. The head piercer at another place seemed enthusiastic, but inexperienced. I decided to look for someone with more experience. When I called Tie-Me-down, I was asked to come in for a consultation. That seemed promising. I got together with a friend and went for the consultation. My friend didn't know where we were going; but I had previously told him about my interest in getting this piercing. We arrived to find the place was under renovation. Mush of the store was blocked off and the jewelry was displayed in a carnival-esc manner. But, the piercer and the clerk were professional and nice. The piercing room looked right and I had been told everything to be used in the piercing procedure would be autoclaved. All in all, it seemed good; and, I was excited about getting my new piercing.

I picked the ring to be used, which was then taken to be autoclaved. Malisa said it would take some time for the sterilization to be completed; so my friend and I went for dinner. By the way, that's a good idea anyhow. Eating beofre a piercing can help you avoid any light-headedness. I remained pretty much at ease throughout dinner and on the way back to the studio. I did start feeling what I suppose was an added production of endorfins and adrenolin (sp?), though. Since the place was being renovated, we had to come in through the back, making our way through a narrow passage between buildings and a small, straggelly, sort of 'back0ally' looking yard. That was kind of fun! Anyway, we got back there; and, it was time for the piercing!

The price was $85.00—that's a lot! That price included jewelry, of course. But, the selection of 10ga rings (CBR's) was slim. In fact, the only 10ga captive bead ring was a bi-color niobium ring. I latter found that I do not like niobium (or, at least, the niobium oxide that coats it) in a fresh piercing.

The piercer remained very professional throughout the whole procedure. She was very nice to deal with. But, I'm not sure she had as much experience with this kind of piercing as she said she did. My piercing was in a very bad location, tight, and off-center. (It was so tight that it stood straight up when I was turgid.) In her defense, I did ok the placement. But, I was a little out of sorts with some nervousness and it's difficult to see little marks down there. I called back a few days latter and asked how much it would cost to come in and have my piercing relocated. I was told that it would cost another $85.00! This kind of piercing should cost around $50-$65 (with jewelry) in the first place. I was told the jewelry could not be reused; but, still—I think they should have given me some kind of discount.

Anyway, I called around a little more, after finding better listings. I found a place that seemed to have better certifications, experience, and jewelry—plus, the cost was just a little over $50 there! That experience will be J 2 of 2 and will be listed under frenum or hafada. I want to give the experience(s) I had there enough detail; so, please look for that one in a little while.

In the mean time, my advice is to take the time to find a good place with a very good piercer. Then, Make Sure You Check the Marks Carefully before you say, "looks good"!
