My interest in piercing began when I was 13 years old and read about the Dyak custom of placing an ampallang in the penis of men at maturity. I knew that one day I would have this piercing .

It took me many years but in the 1970's with the arrival of Gauntlet, information became more available and I pierced myself with a PA. My wife didn't like it much. She said it hurt so after it healed I never wore it with her. A few years later I added an ampallang above the urethra and stretched it to 2.5mm. It never healed well and was a constant source of irritation.

At that time piercing was still on the fringes of society and there was no access to anything like a professional piercer. As the word spread underground I began to do more piercing but about 1985 a local nurse practitioner started doing it and I was glad to let him do it. My wife and I were not having sex anymore due to her health (hormonal changes related to cancer therapy) but she really didn't like that piercing. My other partner liked it very much so I kept it for her.

This all changed when I was diagnosed with prostate cancer and had to undergo a radical prostatectomy. I had to remove all my jewelry and naturally the Amp closed very quickly( my urologist looked at the two small holes in my glans and asked what the lesion was). I missed it and after my wife's death I resolved to get another. Well circumstances alter cases and many years passed. My girlfriend had always liked my ampallang. She was a very strait laced lady of 58 when I met her(older than I am and the hottest woman I've ever known) and she was too inhibited to ask what was the steel in my dick when we first had sex. She liked it a lot though. Her husband had died after 37 years of marriage and they had an extremely active sex life so she was enthusiastic about everything except anal sex. She liked the way my jewelry rubbed her (she is easily the most orgasmic woman I've ever known) and she missed it after I took it out (much to her chagrin ). She said the PA just didn't so the same thing for her as the Ampallang.

I wasn't ready for the healing time associated with and Amp because I'm looking at more urological surgery so I decided to try a foreskin piercing. I am circumcised in the old fashioned way with a "dewlap" of skin left. I decided to pierce as close to my penis as possible reasoning that the skin would hold a 3mm barbell snugly. The last foreskin I had done had taken a long time to heal and was painful so I decided to change methods.

In my experience I have found that Surgical Lasers are not painful in the healing stage because of the way the laser dessicates the nerve endings so I decided to use my Laser equipment on myself.

I gave myself a little carbocaine in the area to numb it and I surgically prepped the area. I aligned the foreskin with a Forrester sponge forceps. It pinched a little because of the close tolerance but things aligned OK after a minute.

I had decide to use a 3mm barbell about 2.5cm long so I used a .4mm laser tip and set the machine at 8 watts. Watching closely I removed the tissue all the way through in less time than it takes to type it. A CO2 Laser removes tissue by dessicating it and the tissue just disappears. I did have to turn the forceps over and tidy up a little on the other side. When I got through the barbell fell in the hole. I cleaned the edges of the wound and bandaged myself because of the numerous veins in the area.

I knew it would bleed a little and it did. Maybe 2cc overnight.

There was very little swelling after 24 hours and no pain. I had taken an anti inflammatory drug before hand but I expected some swelling. It didn't develop until the 3rd day and then was minimal.

AT this point there is very little swelling or discomfort and healing seems to be progressing. I expect it to take another week or two but so far it's been very easy. I'm cleaning the area with a cleaner that contains aloe. There has not been any of the "crusties" usually associated with past piercings.

I have been considering an apadravya and if this works well I think the Laser will be my choice there too because of the hemostasis and the reduced pain. Theoretically a biopsy punch or 3mm ophthalmic blade would be a better method but in practical terms for me the Laser seems ideal. I realize it is not a choice available to many people but I thought it might be of interest.

Self piercing is like a lawyer representing himself-not a good idea. The things I've talked about here require more than a passing medical knowledge and should not be done unless you possess it. Leave it to the pros.
