In January 2000, I obtained my first piercing, a Prince Albert. That experience is listed in the Prince Albert section of the body piercing images and experiences (titled PE PA: location, Rapid City). It was a conscious decision and I feel, well researched with the help of BME. BME provided a wealth of background information, experiences of others, and provided links to other resources. My goal when getting my PA was to take the PA to a 2 gauge circular barbell and to get a double dydoe piercing. I was particularly fascinated by the experience of Ted Frater, "Developing the Dydoe" which appeared in the BME Dydoe section experiences. You can still find his experience listed in the dydoe section. Ted has done a lot of interesting work. I may not go as far, but he provided a great deal of insight and information. I may not go as far, but then again.......

I had written about my PA experience and the lady who performed that piercing went ballistic when I posted my experience at the BME website. One of her parting statements was that I would never be pierced at her studio again (her emailed letter was carbon copied to me by Shannon with his responses - Thanks again, Shannon). Well, so much for the studio in Rapid City. My search for a piercer that I was going to feel comfortable with, was going to be a challenge. Living in the Plain States has its advantages, but there are large distances between where you live and where you can find the services that you desire. I was becoming concerned about how and when I would be able to complete my goal of getting a double dydoe piercing. I did have opportunities to get out of state to larger cities, but it can be difficult to find a studio that you are comfortable with and then establish a rapport with a piercer in a short period of time. To my great surprise and relief, o ne of the staff answering questions at BME's QOD was the owner of Body Mods in Omaha. This was indeed fortunate as my work sometimes took me to Omaha for business.

I established contact with Monte through the Internet and stopped to see him on my way through Omaha to Bennett Springs, Missouri for a fishing trip. We discussed jewelry selection and locations for the piercings. The initial consultation went well and I continued on my way to Missouri. Remember; a bad day fishing is better than a good day at work.

Time has passed and it is almost mid-December. I just finished talking with Monte and set up an appointment for the following evening. 1900 hours tomorrow (Wednesday, 12 December) and I'll be in the dental chair at Monte's studio waiting for that first needle to pierce the corona of my penis. As an aside, I just turned 50 on Sunday (9 December). This will be a nameday present for myself and a follow-through on a commitment that I made to myself. Only time will tell if the sensations are what they claim to be.

Today is the day (12 December). I spent the day in training with other coworkers and I just couldn't get the vision out of my mind. Visualizing that needle through the corona of my penis. I did become very nervous during the day, but forced myself to become deeply involved with the exercises in the class that I was attending. After class, I ran errands to pass the time and give my mind something else to focus on. Before I knew it, I had just enough time to get back to the hotel, take a shower, change clothes, and drive to Body Mods for my session with Monte.

I popped into the studio to question Monte about the after care regimen. I asked, "Sea salt soaks for healing?" I got an affirmative answer from Monte and told him that I would be right back. There just happens to be a health foods store across the street where I bought a small package on non-iodized sea salt for my healing regimen.

Monte and I completed the mandatory paperwork for my piercings, I am now sitting in the dental chair, and the locations have been marked. I'm waiting for the first time the clamp is applied. First clamp on the left side and then the needle went through. OUCH!!!! I muttered a mild expletive (not really that mild) and did some deep breathing through my teeth. The pain was searing and thankfully only momentary. Both of my hands gripped the armrests of the dental chair with enough force to turn my knuckles bright white. Nonetheless, I was prepared for the pain. You realize it's going to be painful, so you do want you can to prepare yourself. It's one of those mental things. It felt as though the tip of my penis was on fire. It seemed as though all the nerve endings around my PA came alive and were receiving conflicting messages of pain and pleasure. I would say that the sensation was a truly unique experience. I looked down at my penis and did see that needle throug h my flesh. What a rush! Even after the grunts and groans with tensed muscles and clenched teeth, it was an awesome sight. I only wish I had had a camera. The jewelry was inserted into the needle and followed the needle as it was pulled through the piercing. One down and one to go; or so I thought. Monte looked at the first placement and said it was just a bit off the mark on the glans. He gave me the option to leave it a bit shallow like it was or remove the jewelry and repierce the left side. Mind you, the pain was intense and I'm not that much into masochism, but I opted to let Monte repierce the left side after the right side was done. Monte removed the ball and quickly pulled the rest of the barbell through the piercing. Strange feeling though, I didn't feel the threads on the end of the barbell as it was sliding through. Possibly, there were too many other pain and pleasure signals going to my brain. A brief rest for me as Monte repositioned himself to wor k on the right side. Clamp on, needle through (more fire), and the je welry followed the needle through. The right side was done. The left side had clotted and was ready to be reclamped in preparation for piercing again. Clamp on, needle through (more fire, again), and the jewelry followed the needle through. Now it's done. And, it was a job well done. This has been an experience that I will never forget. What an understatement!

I felt a sense of euphoria as I was dressing to leave. My knees buckled slightly as the euphoria swept over me. There have been other times in my life when my knees have buckled. I'm looking for those feelings again. I digress. That's another part of my life.

I purposely wore oversized pants (I lost some weight using new guidelines and I'm not going to let it find me again) to limit the amount of pressure the new piercings would experience. It was about a five mile drive back to the hotel. No problems during that return trip. I also made a conscious decision to bring a couple of bottles of PowerADE with me to the studio. I used these to put the sugars back into my system and help restore my electrolyte balance. That seemed to work just fine. I also started taking an additional zinc supplement to help with the healing process. I am taking zinc in addition to what I normally receive from my daily multi-vitamin and other OTC supplements and minerals.

The first night, I slept with a panty liner (trust me, this really works) and a couple of paper towels in my underwear to keep any blood confined. There was quite a bit of blood the first night. This has diminished to almost nothing, except the clotted blood at the piercing openings. I plan to use panty liners for about a week, just to keep my clothes cleaner. There is a bit of bruising (more so on the left side), but that is to be expected.

It's the second day after my session and there is no oozing lymph or blood. There is just a gentle reminder as my penis moves around in my shorts - there is new jewelry and the piercings need time to heal. Sea salt soaks twice a day and we'll see how the healing progresses. Since the healing was progressing well, I stopped using the panty liners after the third day. Well, I rethought the use of the panty liners and have continued their use. They help prevent the balls from catching the seams and openings in my underwear. I guess I'll need to change the style of my underwear or stop wearing them altogether in the long term.

Four weeks have passed. I have maintained the sea salt soak regimen (a minimum of two times per day at 10 to 15 minutes each time) during the healing process. There has been no sign of jewelry migration or allergic reaction to the nickel in the barbells. Seeing these results after four weeks pleases me. The only problem that I had and am currently having is the tightness of my jeans and the tightness of my athletic supporter when I work out at the Y. I do get stares and the ubiquitous, "Did it hurt?" question as I sit in the sauna after my Saturday morning workout regimen. The minimum healing time of 8 weeks are all that may be needed for my healing process (I had observed that Monte wrote 8 to 12 weeks on my consent paperwork). My shorter healing time might be attributed to my relatively good health. My plan is to use the balls from the original barbells and replace the bars with PTFE sections. I want to get the balls comfortably snug against my glans and corona during erections.

Time is now at 8 weeks. Just a bit more healing time and then to start work with the PTFE bar replacements. That is, once I find a source for the PTFE.

As a closing, this piercing was a conscious decision. I read the experiences and researched the background material before committing myself to this piercing. Know yourself, know your body, and make the commitment. Maintain your focus and follow through on that commitment. Also, know your piercer and make sure you feel comfortable with his/her studio environment. Do your research. You'll be glad you did. After seeing the mostly healed results, I am pleased and would not hesitate to do this again - I just may. That is always an option. Keep your options open. And remember; it's not a contest.

If there comes a time to retire the dydoes (or what they may have developed into), I have thought about an apadravya. My PA puts me half way there. As I mentioned above, keep your options open.
