I got my PA done in '98 at Halo in Phoenix. Since then I've stretched the hole to 2ga, then remove the jewelry for awhile then re-stretch it regularly. When I got my nipples re-pierced earlier this year (2007) it resparked an interest of mine in doing more piercings on my penis.

While at HTC in Tempe on Monday (to get my nipple jewelry reinstalled after an MRI) I asked about getting my PA upgraded to a Dolphin. The guy in the shop said he had never done one, nor had the other guy working that night. He suggested I come back Wednesday or Thursday to talk to someone who had more experience. I couldn't make it either of those days, so went in after work on Friday and spoke with Dana. He's a pretty nice guy who sat down and answered my questions regarding healing, complications, jewelry and his previous experience. He was very professional, but easy going and I decided right then that I'd go ahead with it and was comfortable with him doing it. The determining factor was whether he could bend some jewelry to fit, or if I would have to order it custom.

After checking depth and sizing, I asked to go with 8ga. After destroying two 8ga circular barbells and breaking all of the 1/4" balls in the store, we ended up piercing at 10ga. The guy I had talked to Monday asked if he could sit in to watch - not a problem, I;m not shy. So all the prep was done, jewelry was made, receiving tube selected and site cleaned (new hole to be placed 1 1/8" below the original PA hole). The receiving tube insertion was a bit irritating, but not bad. The part that hurt there was him turning the tube and having to push from the outside to make sure it was in the right place - that pinched quite a bit. Then he grabbed the 11ga needle and had me start with 3 deep focusing breaths - I had to watch - because I flinch if I don't. The needle slid in no problem, and was less of a discomfort than the positioning of the receiving tube! A bit of blood dripped out the end of my urethra, but not as much as I expected.

The hole made, Dana then used the taper to go from the 11ga needle to the 10ga jewelry, the hope being there would be less bleeding. The taper went through just fine, not even the usual pinch and since there wasn't further bleeding we just padded with gauze and that was that. I'm rather glad I wasn't stuck with a whole rubber chicken in my pants, as I had a 45 minute drive ahead of me.

I got home and removed the gauze to urinate and it looked pretty gnarly and there was a fair amount of dried blood. After urinating I just wadded the toilet paper up and went on my way. We went to see Doug Stanhope at the Sets afterwards, and when I went to the restroom (about 5 hours post-piercing) I removed the wadding, which was again, only a little bloody, then found that after I had urinated, the blood would not stop. it just kept bleeding drip... drip... drip. Having read up on this on BME I basically cut off circulation for 3 or 4 minutes and cleaned up - by then everything had coagulated and I could move around again without worrying about bleeding all over my pants. The blood had sat in the bowl and didn't rinse down when I flushed, so I'm wondering what the next person to use the stall thought!

Sleeping was fine that night. Yesterday morning I got up late and showered, then washed with the anti-microbial soap. There was a fresh flow of blood. With everything wet I went ahead and checked the sizing and placement (gently aroused myself to climax) The length of the jewelry is fine, but my urethra sits rather low (towards the bottom surface) so the height of the jewelry makes the balls not fit snuggly. After it heals I'll order a long 8ga curved barbell to limit the exposed shaft of the jewelry. Throughout the day I check to make sure things were ok, and replaced the toilet paper every time I urinated. Each time there is a little bit of blood, but it has always been dry and not stuck to me.

I have submitted a picture of the second morning after (time of this write-up) and there is quite a bit of bruising. Also some tenderness, but no more than the PA, and definitely less than the ampallang (which came out for an appendectomy, and I never got re-pierced). If there are any complications, I'll be sure to post a followup!
