I first got my PA piercing about 5 years ago and I have to say the whole experience ran pretty smooth (apart from excessive bleeding the night after and the shock at the pain of urinating). The piercing itself was relatively painless and the healing was quite straightforward. Having a number of other piercings that were already stretched to quite a large gauge I was eager to get to work on my PA, which was pierced at 2.4mm. I think this is where my problems began. I can't remember exactly how soon after the piercing I began stretching but I think it was only perhaps a month or so. By this time the piercing had pretty much healed but in hindsight was in no way mature enough to begin stretching. Despite this the first stretch to 3mm was not too much of an issue but getting to 4mm was much more difficult.

I tried inserting a 4mm BCR on its own using lubricant with no success and even tried using weights during the day to try and encourage the hole to relax. I eventually (after a long hot bath) got a 4mm horseshoe ring through using a taper and lots of lubricant, with quite a lot of pain and discomfort to follow. After this stretch the piercing healed quite nicely apart from one thing, a nasty scaring in the form of a lump underneath. Although there was no pain from this I found it unsightly and even resorted to trying to remove it myself, once again with much bleeding and little success. This is something I do not recommend!

The lump returned and in the end I gave up. I removed the ring after about 4 months of having it in and let the piercing heal up, or so I thought.

For the next 4 years the hole remained open but at what size I was never quite sure until one day I decided to see if a 1.6mm barbell would fit through, it did.

I decided after a little deliberation to put some jewellery back into the piercing. I don't quite know why after all this time I wanted my PA back, perhaps I was just curious but for some reason the timing felt right. I ordered 1.6 and 2mm rings off the Internet. I remembered when having the piercing done that 2.4 was the smallest size that was considered suitable for a PA but due to the fact I was reopening the hole I thought these rings would be fine for a few weeks. At first they were OK but soon the pain became excruciating. The pain was not with the piercing but was the ring rubbing on the top of my urethra. Don't ask me why but I ordered rings with an internal diameter of 19mm that was way, way to big! Luckily my 2.4 and 3mm rings arrived a week later, and this time with a much more comfortable internal diameter of 15mm. I fitted the 2.4 ring with no hassle at all and just to experiment tried the 3mm ring. It went in straight away with no pain or discomfort. Having had no jewellery in the piercing for 4 years I was at 3mm within the space of a couple of weeks.

I knew at this point I'd definitely made the right decision. I loved the way the 3mm ring looked and felt and was glad to have my PA back.

I left it a month before I went back up to 4mm which was a little more painful and quite tight for a couple of days but then was absolutely fine, and so far no unsightly scaring!

So that's were I'm up to. I'm wearing a ring with a screw in ball which I'm not entirely happy with. Some of the threading is visible and so not very hygienic and I think the shape of the ring may have lead to some of the discomfort on insertion.

Deciding on what jewellery to wear when stretching has been another dilemma. Whilst I'm a fan of simple large gauge BCRs I'm concerned that they'll be a nightmare to take in and out. Threaded jewellery is an option but a little expensive when it's only being worn for a month or so! My plans are to get to about 6 or 7mm but as I haven't been wearing the jewellery during sex I want to find something that I can remove relatively easily.

I don't know if the next stretch will be as easy due to the fact that so far I've been repeating stretches I'd already done but the next one will be a new experience entirely. Whilst I'm keen to get to my desired size I'm all too aware of the mistakes of the past and don't want to further aggravate my piercing.

So although it's taken 5 years, I can definitely say, second time around has been a much more pleasant experience.
