Finally.....Did I Really Do That?

It all started long ago when I doing a research report on rites of passage. Now this was long before my piercing days and so almost anything I saw was shocking (I had just seen my first tongue piercing). I was reading about African tribes - they always have the strangest rites - when I came across an article about a certain tribe whose boys pierced their penises as their rite into manhood. Now this was a pretty freakin' crazy idea to me already but the piercing itself is a piercing that most modern piercers won't do (so I learned after much investigation). I can't remember the name of the tribe but this is what I saw. The boys would take thier penis and smash it between two halves of bamboo with a hole drilled through both pieces; to force out all the blood and make the piercing less painful. They would then just ram a bronze pin through their unit and be done with it. Now I'm sure there was a lot more involved in it than that but that was pretty much the act in itself. Once the piercing was healed the men would make a studded ring with two holes through the center of the ring, slide the ring on the penis and place the piercing pin through the ring (the number of studs on the ring corresponded to the wearers status in society). That's it, I gotta have one of those!! Thus begins my exploration into the world of piercing.

Flash....eight years later. I did my own prince albert shortly after reading about it that same fateful day. I then got a reverse prince and then turned my original prince into an apadravya but that simply couldn't quench my curiosity and nothing I tried could replace the piercing that had me absolutely captivated. So earlier this summer I started asking around. I went to my friend Sonya at Milio's in Chicago and asked her what she thought of the whole thing. She said it would be cool but there was no way she would do it. So I called about eight other piercing shops and only one guy said he'd do it but he'd never done one before. So I let the idea go....for a while. Well finally I couldn't stand it anymore. I was getting ready to go to bed one night about two and a half weeks ago and I thought to myself, the africans do it themselves in much less sterile conditions than I can create and none of thier penises fell off.....I could probably do my own. So with not much more thought about it I sterilized a long needle and lay down in my bed (I figured if I got too freaked out and I lost conciousness I at least wouldn't fall anywhere). I placed a small table between my legs and mentally psyched myself up to do it kinda, placed the needle where I thought I wanted it to go and just started pushing down gently. Well it hurt at first but I just focused on it and soon it didn't hurt any more....so I pressed harder. Soon that didn't hurt so I pressed harder and harder until I felt a quick "pop" and then the needle slid in about an inch and a half. (Sidenote) During the whole piercing I pretty much had an erection; not because I was turned on by the pain or anything - that has NEVER quite done it for me - but simply because I couldn't believe that I was finally going to have the piercing that I wanted. So yeah, that probably made it a little bit worse but it still really wasn't bad, it hurt less than getting my reverse done professionally. So anyway "pop", slide, and the needle is pretty much through. I'm shaking like crazy because I really was only thinking about it when I started and was more prepared for a little experimentation than doing the whole thing. But I can feel the needle through the skin on the bottom of my penis. Now I'm faced with a decision; I can either make the piercing perfectly straight and go through the urethra or I can push the piercing out to the side on the bottom a little bit less than a quarter inch and avoid the urethra all together. I opted for the second option and moved the needle over a little and pushed it the rest of the way through. Well since I really wasn't TOTALLY ready for the piercing to be done I didn't have any jewelry ready which is okay because I wore the needle in my prince albert when I did it and it worked out really well so I figured I would do the same thing here and I would just go out and buy the jewelry over the next couple of days.

To make a long story short, I cleaned the piercing VERY well three times a day for the first week with the needle still in. Meanwhile I special ordered a 16g 1.75" barbell and waited for it to come. When the jewelry finally showed up I very excitedly rushed to the bathroom and worked the jewelry in, screwed on the top bead and looked at it very proudly. I finally had the piercing that I had always wanted....now I just have to find somebody to special make the beaded ring to go with it.

Really quick I'll talk about the healing. The first week hurt like hell.....go figure. It really didn't hurt that bad under normal circumstances, it was just a little sore, but when I got an erection (and guys you know you can't control when, how often or how long they last) that was pretty painful!!!! After the first week the swelling started to go down and the normal pain subsided. After about a week and a half to two weeks I could have an erection without having to take two advil. Now, about three weeks later I don't have many problems with it at all except an occasional MINOR soreness if I bump it real hard. I LOVE the way it looks and I may try and submit a picture of it if I can get one taken and developed somewhere. I would recommend it but only if you have a VERY slow month for recuperation.
