I have been interested in genital piercings for a while and I eventually decided to get an Apadravya piercing. I looked for places around the Toronto area and I found Lower Eastside and their piercer Dan.(Whose website is www.piercerdan.com) I called down to the shop and had a talk with Dan. I told him I wanted an Apadravya. He asked what size I was thinking of doing. I was thinking of going ten guage because that seemed to be what most people on BME said was the size there piercer decided to go with. "Really? That small?" was the reply I got. I was kind of surprised since that seemed to be the norm. "Why.... what would you say it should be done at?" He then said he usually does it at a 6 guage. Wow, that seemed pretty big. But I said okay and that I would be down later.
At A Glance Author otnot Contact otnot@bme.anon When A month ago Artist Dan Studio Lower Eastside Tattoo and Body Piercing Location Toronto I went down the next week to see Dan. Ooh, nice shop, could play some better music. I then go downstairs to the piercing room with Dan.... Holy Crap!! They got a Snapping Turtle!!!. And on to the piercing room. He puts on his gloves and mask, I whip it out and he puts two dots on it. One on top, one on bottom. Now we're done for the day. That sure was worth the hour drive. Seriously though, he had to make the jewelry out of Teflon, and I had to go home, get hard and measure the distance across my penis from one dot to another.(I'll keep measurements to myself thanks.) I then call Dan back with the measurements so he can make the jewelry.
I go down a few days later when he has everything ready. He takes a photocopy of my license and does all the legal stuff first, then we go to the piercing room. Damn that turtle is cool!! So once in the piercing room, he puts on gloves and mask and I whip it out. He then disinfects it and marks it again for where the piercing will be. He left a little extra length on the barbell for healing. He says that it is one of only two piercings he uses clamps on.(I didn't ask what the other one was) Now listen up, there are people on BME who say that the clamps hurt as bad as the piercing. They are on crack. Its not a pair of vice grips he is putting on!!! Take your dick out of your pants.... Go on!! Do It!! Now squeeze it. Guess what, you probably hurt yourself more than the clamp will, and the pain you caused yourself is probably gone by the end of this sentence isn't it? I'm glad we got that out of the way. Dan says "Since this is a larger guage we are using for this piercing I am going to be using a scalpel." A Scal-what? We never talked about this. Now it may not actually be any different than a sharp spike, but it was a little more intimidating. But on we go. I lean back in the chair and he says he is lining up the dots. I could feel the tip of the scalpel on my penis, which was a little uncomfortable. And then he starts pushing. OW! I am proud to say at no time did I scream or anything. I would have to say that this really was pretty painful. It's not as painless as some people say, but I wouldn't say its enough to make you scream, although pain tolerance is different depending on the person. On a scale of 1 to 10 of the amount of pain I could take, ten being enough to make me scream, it would have been a 7, maybe 7.5. And the pain was enough to make it hard to breath steadily. Dan kept asking if I was alright as he was cutting through. Uh, no. I have a really sharp knife through my penis, its not very nice. I then felt another uncomfortable sensation, which I assume was the thing he used to put the barbell in.(I have no idea what you call it, I don't normally do this stuff) Then the barbell was in, and about 15 seconds later there was no more pain. The actually cutting through of the piercing I would estimate at 10-15 seconds. Now this is where all the other people on BME say "oh my god!!! The endorphins.. Wow blah blah blah. Bullshit, bullshit, bullshit." That doesn't happen. I am sure that the adrenaline probably did dull the pain. But you don't get high from it!! Like some people on here want you to believe. I sat in the chair for another few minutes while I was waiting for the bleeding to slow down. Dan told me aftercare and all that good stuff, and I tipped him because its only fair, he did a really good job, it was straight and everything and he seemed to really appreciate it.
Now some people say its hurts to walk, but for me walking was no problem. After the initial piercing I felt no pain for probably around an hour and then it was only a very dull pain, barely anything really. And the first time using the washroom I had no pain at all, but that may because I was drinking a lot of water for and hour or two before the piercing. For the first night I kept a glove on the piercing. And whatever you do, don't put on a condom like some people do. A condom is way, way to tight, do yourself a favour and just tape a surgical glove on. It will be much easier to put on and it won't pull nearly as much.
I woke up early in the morning, and I mean early. Around 3 o'clockish, because I was in a lot of pain. I decided to go to the washroom since I was up, and I mean that in more than one way.(I had the early morning hard on for those of you who didn't get the joke.) I went to the washroom, and peeing hurt quite a bit this time around. But the worst part was when I took off the bandage. There was a lot of blood all over the bandages. When I was standing there peeing I got really, really dizzy. So much so, that I thought I might pass out right there. I think it may have been because I lost a lot of blood throughout the evening I got the piercing done. I think that just because I am not one of the people that hates the sight of blood, I personally have no problem with it. Then again, it is kind of unsettling to have that much blood, any really, coming out of your penis. I went to bed again, but this time took my clothes off.
When I woke up later there was only a small amount of pain. I should probably mention that I took two days off of work before the weekend so I had four days to recover. If you have a job where you are doing a lot of activity I would say you should take at least 4 days before doing any real activity, maybe more. Being that I only live with my brother, who was working the four days I was off, I wore no pants. It was very helpful. When he got home I would put some pants back on, and I did notice that it made my penis quite a bit more sore.
I woke up early again the next day because of the pain. There was no blood however, except for just a ring around the barbell. I ended up taking my pants off again and going back to bed. After this I realized it was better to wear no clothes. I was originally worried about rolling over in the night or pulling up the blankets in my sleep and pulling the piercing. Turns out I didn't have that problem at all. You should try different ways to see which works better for you since everyone sleeps differently.
After my four days off I had to go back to work. I am a welder so it is hot and sweaty and there is a lot of physical labour. It was not really that bad, only a pull here or there. By the end of the week I didn't notice any pulling problems at all.
One thing about using the washroom in the morning. Look at the opening of your urethra because mine seemed to be, well, glued shut by the discharge. You may not get this problem but check to make sure, and if you do, pull on either side of the urethra to open it because it hurts a bit to pee through that. Not to mention the fact that it totally ruins your aim.
The other thing I am sure that everyone wants to know is "how is it for sex?" Well, unfortunately I can't tell you how the ladies like it since I don't have a girl right now. For myself however, I was totally surprised. I didn't really believe all the stuff people have written here on BME. I found that I was right to not believe most of it, but the part about extra sensation definitely is true. I find that orgasms actually last about twice as long and are much, much more powerful. I guess its in the Kama Sutra for a reason. I know you will want to try your Apadravya out, but you really should wait at least a week before taking it for a test run yourself and two weeks to let someone else test it. Of course you should wear condoms for having sex with this, or clean hands.
BME and other websites say that healing time is 6 months plus. I don't see how this is anywhere even close. It is now about a month and 3 days and it is almost completely healed. I don't see it taking anymore than the rest of the month to be totally healed. But once again everyone is different and Dan even told me he has seen some people heal in 30 days and others take a whole year to heal. He said it depends on how well you clean the piercing and how you use and abuse it, which makes sense.
Wow, you actually made it this far huh? I'm impressed. One other thing is that I really wouldn't want to get this done any smaller than 6 guage. Some people on here had it done at 10 or even 12. I would imagine that would not be nearly as pleasurable as the larger sizes. Having a small size now would seem like having a wire through my penis. Plus with the larger guage, healing will be faster. And it looks a lot better.
Now last of all, make sure you get it done by a professional. If you try to do this yourself you are officially the stupidest fucking person in the world. You won't get it done and you will only mess yourself up, or bleed to death.(and it can happen) I would also recommend getting a large guage. It may be more intimidating, but will there really be a difference in pain? I don't think so. But don't take my word for it, and don't get a piercing because of what other people on here say. Assume all of it is untrue, and go see a professional piercer, then decide if it is for you. And I would highly recommend going to see Dan at Lower Eastside. I know everyone recommends their piercer, but for my first piercing I had a great experience. It was all very professional and Dan explained everything in detail so there were no surprises along the way. And I couldn't be happier.
That's it, all done. Hope this helped and if anyone has more questions, which I doubt, but you never know, they can email me at otnot0303@hotmail.com
