I started to be interested in body piercings about two years ago. I was looking in piercing sites at various piercings and started with a scrotal piercing using a needle and hoops made for ears. This piercing was shallow and migrated out.

My next step was to order some 14 gauge piercing needles and two 1/2 inch 14g captive bead rings. I then used these to put in two scrotal piercings. I was happy with the results of these piercings, even if my wife thought that I was a little goofy for doing the piercings.
I started to look at other piercings and decided that nipple piercings and anything above the neck were not for me. I kept looking at the Prince Albert piercings in different sites and then I found BMEZINE and started to read the experiences in these sites.
There was no way at the time that I was going to try to do this by myself so I started to look for a Tattoo/piercing shop that would do the piercing.The first shop that I went to did not do genital piercings do to insurance limits. The next shop did not look like a place that I would want to do the piercing and the artist was only there one day a week as he worked in two shops, so I moved on. The next shop did not do anything below the waist, but told me of a shop that did and told me that they also were a class operation. I called this shop and the lady that answered the phone said that yes they did
the P.A. piercings, but at the time that they did not have the proper size jewelry in stock, but would order the item and call me when they came in.
After waiting for about a month, I called the shop, but did not get an answer. The next day I went to the city that the shop was in and found out that they had gone out of business.
I wondered if I was meant to have my piercing and basically gave up on the idea. I then removed the scrotal jewelry and forgot about it and said the heck with it. Some time later I was in a large city doing some shopping and drove past a shop that I had seen in the yellow pages with an ad for tattoos and piercings. I stopped in and chatted for a while with the shop employees and the piercer.
During the Thanksgiving holiday at work I went back to the studio and told them that I was there to get pierced. They thought that when I was there before that I was just there to talk and was not really going to get a piercing. They already had everything sterilized and a 10g 3/4 inch captive ball ring sterilized so I said to the piercer that I was ready if he was. When the needle went through it was somewhat uncomfortable, but it was not a major shock. the insertion of the jewelry was nothing, and after a clean up of the bleeding I was wrapped up and on my merry way home.
When I got home I soaked the piercing in sea salt and wrapped it in light day womens pads, by the way peal the paper off of the adhesive side and put toilet paper on it for comfort. I had read that when you urinate for the first time to do it in a glass of warm water as it makes it easier and does not sting as much. I did this and every time for the first day that was how I did it.
When I finally got around to giving a good look at the piercing, after the third day and the bleeding had ceased I was upset, the piercing was not at the bottom of the shaft as I expected but was on the side of the head of my penis. I thought that this was bull so I removed the ring and the hole healed shut. After the piercing hole had healed completely I called the shop and told them that I was not pleased with their work. Tim the piercer told me to come back and he would make things right. During the 10 day Christmas shutdown I went back and he told me that that was how he had been taught to do the P.A. piercing and showed me photos of them done that way. He asked how I wanted it done and I told him where to put the piercing so that it looked like all the piercings that I had seen before on the internet sites. He did the piercing again and I went home happy.
As time passed I started to replace the 10g jewelry, first with an 8g ring and then with a 6g circular barbell. I went back to the shop and had Tim order a 4g acrylic circular barbell, and they could not belive that I had enlarged the piercing to 6g by myself. After I had the 4g in for about two months I ordered a 2g circular barbell and inserted it. This was my downfall on the P.A. as the hole was right at the edge of the head of my penis and the opening was getting to large and I was afraid that it would rip out so I removed the jewelry before it did.
About a month later I was missing my toy so I decided that I would pierce myself as I still had a new 14g needle and a 14g ring that were never used. I sterilized the needle, tube and ring with live steam and pierced myself with the piercing farther back on the shaft.
It was only a matter of days before I could insert a 10g, and I ordered a new 8g ring with a easy to insert ball from a supplier and enlarged the hole to get the larger jewelry in. This worked great as with the hole being farther back on the shaft the ring stayed in the center of the urethra and did not have any effect on the opening.
Now as Paul Harvey would say, the rest of the story. I was getting tired of urinating like a lady, or standing and dripping on every thing so back to the experiences. I read that the apadravya would allow most men to urinate like a man or an ampallang piercing would also allow a better chance of keeping ones shoes dry.
I decided that since I already had the bottom hole that I would go with the apadravya piercing, so back the internet store I went for a 12g needle and a 1-3/8 12g barbell. When the equipment arrived my wife was going to be in the hospital for 10days with knee replacement surgery, so this was a excellent time to do the deed.
I had an 8g internal tube so I would bring it up through the pa hole and pierce from the top. I tried to do this with no success as I needed a third hand to keep every thing in place. I decided that the only way that I would be able to do it would be to grasp my penis head and try to keep the bottom hole aligned with the center of the top of the head. I placed a 14g barbell that was shorter than the piercing needle into the needle so that I would have the ball to make driving the needle through the head of my penis easier.
I said to myself, It's now or never and pushed the needle through the head into the urethra then all that I had to do was to find the bottom hole. This only took a short amount of time and there was a needle through my manhood. Now all that was left to do was to take the 14g barbell out of the needle and get the 12g barbell where it belonged without loosing the position of the barbell on the needle. It turned out to be a piece of cake and I had my piercing.
Not being one to sit idle I decided to replace the barbell with a 10g barbell. In my collection of electronic equipment I had some tubes that were used to hold pins used building fixtures to test pc boards. These are gold plated thin stainless. One size just fits over the 12g barbell and tapered at the end allowing the thread of the 10g barbell to rest in it without going into it. I slipped the sleeve over the barbell and lubricated it. It went through like a hot knife through butter. I grabbed the sleeve with two fingers on the underside so that it would not slip out and also to keep tension on the 10g barbell as I threaded it through. So now after a year I have gone from a 10g P.A. to a 2g and now to my 10g apadravya.
Tim told me that he had a customer wanting a piercing, but was afraid so he told them of this old guy who comes into the shop who has done so many piercings that he should not be afraid of it hurting.
As an after thought I have been spending a lot of time looking at the ampallang piercing. Lookout penis that old fool may be at it again.
If you are reading this and think that self piercing is a good idea, think again as you are wrong. I did a lot of this myself, and was probably stupid for doing it. I will not do the ampallang myself and will do a lot of searching to find a piercer that has done many of them.
