I've been thinking about getting a Apadravya for over a year. It's just been really frustrating trying to find a piercer that has done a few of them. I found Urban X-Change and said I'll go over and talk to them. Finally, someone I trust and that says "I've done those" and not hearing "I've seen them done". I've been reading plenty of others experiences on this site and said today's the day.
At A Glance Author Jason Contact Jason@bme.anon When A month ago Artist George Boyce Studio Urban X-Change Location Virginia Beach, VA I walked into Urban X-Change one Sunday and everyone there was really cool and wanting to know what they can do for me. When I told one of the guys what I wanted pierced he said that he couldn't do it, and that I'd have to come back tomarrow and talk to George. Man, I was so disappointed. I was all psych'd up for it to happen today and everything. Well guess I've waited a year, what's another day. So I came back the next night and meet with George. We went over the piercing and placements, talked about what to expect. He searched over the whole store trying to find the right jewelery, but with no luck said he'd have to order it, be a few days, another downer. I must say I'm very glad that George is a professional piercer and not one of those "money" piercers who would of just done it with a 14 gauge or something that is not right for that piercing. Even though I wanted the piercing so badly I also wanted it done right. So I called him a few days later and was told that he found the jewelery but was at the Chesapeake store and that he would have it the next night. I just couldn't wait any longer, my work schedule isn't the easiest to work around. I asked him if it would be cool if I picked up the jewelery and came be later that night and get poked. No problem he said. So I drove over to the other store and meet the crew over there, very nice people. They even offered to pierce me if I wanted. But not taking anything away from George I declined. They understood completely and agreed with me on that choice. But if I was on that side of town and wanted to get another piercing I wouldn't hesitate going to see them. Anyway's, got the jewelery and off I go for a few hour wait till I meet up with George that evening. Very nervous at this point, but really excited.
Driving to the shop the shrinkage started even before I could get out of my truck. Talked to the other guys in the shop, had to wait for George cause he was piercing a few others before me. They asked what I was getting done and kinda cringed when I told them. lol Finally my turn. Got all ready in the chair, draped and trying to get my "partner" out of my throat from the shrinkage that was going on. Well after a few markings and eyeballing we agreed on the placement. A little cleaning and the dreaded clamp for control. A nice deep breath in and hold it....HOLY SHIT! I'm not trying to be a "macho guy" but I've been reading other stories about how much it hurts, but to be honest it wasn't really that bad. I think it was more of a shock of what just happened then pain. Well after the barbell was on it looked great. Man, I was sweating my ass off. So i just sat in the chair for a bit, no rush he told me. Don't think he wanted me passing out on him. lol So we were talking about aftercare and how much it will bleed, cause I remember reading in other posts that I bleed for a few days. George told me that there was no blood with mine and that maybe I'd be one of the lucky ones who's doesn't bleed. Got home and unwrapped it, still no blood. Well thank god I'm one of the lucky ones. Showed it off to a few friends who wanted to see it. They all thought I was crazy, but were happy for me.
Well here we are a few weeks later and no problems. Having a great time with it and no disappointments what so ever. I'd do it again if I had to. I felt for the story I read earlier about one guy who had to have surgery and they made him take out his piercing, but he got it done again afterwards. I'm even thinking about what my next piercing will be. If anyone is thinking of a piercing you have to go see George or any of the crew over at Urban X-Change, there very knowledgeable and very professional. I'm also very happy that there is BME, a place for us "freaks" to share our experiences and come together. Even though I will probably never get into major modifications, suspension does strike my interest. And it's nice to be able to read about others experiences and stories. So thank you to all who take time to write down those experiences and better the world. I hope that this story will help anyone who is thinking of getting a Apadravya. I think I've read all the stories regarding this piercing that I could get my hands onto and learned a lot from all of them. Just remember that your body is about the only thing now a days that no one can tell you what you can and can't do to it. So make yourself happy and get poked. Thanks to all.
