My adventure starts over two years ago when I had my PA done. It was pierced at an 8ga. and over time stretched to 0ga. I had numerous weight (of the jewelry) issues over the different sizes of jewelry (started at 2ga.) I switched to titanium jewelry and at 2ga. the problem seemed to to remedied. After some time, I stretched to 0ga. with titanium jewelry and it was fine for about two months. After the two months I started to have severe chapping around the bottom of my urethral opening and it started to hurt pretty bad. I switched back to 2ga. jewelry specifically to an acrylic curved barbell. After a few days, I woke up one morning to find the jewelry had fallen out and upon attempting to reinsert realized that the chap that had been there was now dead skin that was brown/black and very sore. I pulled the dead skin off and didn't wear any jewelry in the PA hole for almost two months.

I had always thought about doing an apadravya (eventually)and got chills every time I really thought about it. Right after I had issues with my PA, I went to see Kevin at Splash of Color and he suggested that if I wanted to "keep" the piercing I should go ahead and do the apadravya. The idea piqued my attention. I knew that right away wasn't an option as we were approaching the very busy season at work. I had to wait as I work in a sales job where I walk around and have to be fairly physical. So Doing it then would've been a very stupid, foolish idea during the healing process.

The busy season is over and I had cash to blow. It was time.

Today was my first day completely off in months. My wife had work done on her leg sleeve last night and I had a severe itch for some sort of mod. I went to Splash at about 1 O'clock today and said to Kevin, "I think today's the day..." He knew exactly what I was talking about and started one of the other piercers off to set up his room for the procedure at 8ga. I took some time while they were setting up to look at designs for my next tattoo. About 15 minutes later Kevin called me back to his room. I went with a great deal of trepidation, I knew this was gonna suck. Even though I had wanted this for a long long time, I was at about my most nervous for any one procedure.

I sat there for a good 20 minutes talking to Kevin about the procedure and how his life was going. My pants came down and we kept talking about the procedure. He began marking and scrubbing, prepping me for the piercing. He ran a taper through the PA hole and threaded the needle over the taper. My heart was racing, I had to wait. Like I said, my nerves were driving me over the edge, my hands were even cold and my head was very very hot. My hands are never cold, my sympathetic nervous system was kicked to an extremely high level. I had Kevin wait. He is one of the most patient people I have ever met. We waited for about five minutes until my pulse slowed down and my heartbeat was below bounding. My head kept saying "okay" but I couldn't physically say it. It took about five minutes but I was then ready. I said okay, and Kevin promised that he would make it quick. Deep breath in and we started. There were three "pops" to the piercing. The first I assume was the urethral wall, the next is kind of a mystery to me, but the third was the top of my head. The pain, honestly, wasn't that bad. It was on par with the PA but not nearly as bad as re-stretching my top frenum by myself. I bled a little, not too bad. Kevin cleaned me up and asked if I wanted to have it wrapped or not. I wasn't going straight home, so he wrapped me up in a glove. I went to run a few errands and haven't experienced any pain as of yet. There's a reason I only trust Kevin to do my piercings (in that region anyways). Not only is he incredibly patient but he is probably the most professional piercer I've ever met.

It's been about four hours now, my first urination wasn't anywhere near as bad as the PA. It stung a little but not too bad at all. I'll continue to update on my IAM page for those of you on IAM. My final word on the Apadravya, it's painful, don't get me wrong, but it really wasn't anything I needed to worry about.

It's
