The experience that I am about to share with you is one of strength, trust, tragedy and determination. You will read about how I ended up with an Apadravya piercing and what happened to me, with that, in the weeks that followed. I'll start by letting you know that I have had many piercing experiences, both giving and receiving, including Nipples, Septum, Frenum, Lips and Ears. Even after all of that, and knowing that I could easily handle great deals of quick pain, the Ap. was a piercing that still struck fear into me.

I had previously considered the Apadravya piercing for myself, and wanted a little more information regarding the endeavor. After reading many of the experiences on BME, I decided that I wasn't willing to deal with 4 to 6 days of "heavy" bleeding or up to 6 months with out sex for the job. From there I put it out of my mind and decided I should find a different number to compliment my Frenum. Through consideration I opted for a Prince Albert and set off to the shop to ask a few questions before finalizing my decision.

I hadn't had any personal experience with this particular shop, but had heard many good reports from trustworthy sources. I asked my friend Nicole to accompany me, as she had received all her piercing from High Priestess and knew many of the employees. When we arrived she introduced me to her favorite artist at the shop, Jared. He answered all of my questions honestly, helpfully and patiently. When my barrage was finished he approached me with a proposition. He said that since I was interested in genital work he would cut me the deal of the century, and, in his opinion, it was the only way to go in this situation. He let me know that he himself, along with every other guy that worked there, had an Ap., and that it was his favorite piercing. He also let me know that he had watched many of them done but had not actually had the chance to do one himself, as they are fairly rare in this area. It was the one piercing left that he wanted to put in his portfolio and, if I l et him do it under experienced supervision, he would only charge me one-third the normal price.

Well, needless to say, at first I was flattered but was very unwilling to accept the deal. He sat and talked with me about it for a good half an hour, trying all the while to convince me not only of its appeal but also of its necessity to a member of the body modification community. My first concern was the pain. He assured me that it would hurt, but as with any other piercing the pain would be over shortly. Next was the bleeding issue. Jared told me how they use half gauge needles that are half of a gauge smaller that the jewelry. This greatly reduces the amount of blood loss. Lastly was the inability to have sex for up to six months. He let me know that once the barbell has been downsized (replaced with a shorter one after a decent amount of healing) protected "activity" was ok and protected sex was doable when I felt comfortable with it. He said that this usually takes about a month or two until one is ready. Now that didn't seem too bad, but I was still feeling a bit "Chicken." Then I thought; the deal was great and I was in the care of excellent artists, so I said Fuck It, it can't be that bad, let's do it.

I filled out the paper work, showed my ID and prepared myself for the rush. The room was small but comforting in its décor. I hung up my jacket, dropped my pants and hopped up on the table. Nicole accompanied me for support and Jared was accompanied by one of his supervisors for advice and guidance. As I lay on the table, every step of cleaning and prepping was explained to me so as I wouldn't feel left out of the adventure. The piercing was marked and approved by the expert and myself, the 10-gauge jewelry was set up and the needle came out of the package. I closed my eyes and began the calming breathing process that led up to small pinch, as the tip of the needle was set. With the exhalation of a third deep breathe, my whole body tightened up as the needle began its journey through the head of my penis. It took two pushes to get the needle through and clear the bevel. In all it took maybe four or five seconds of very intense, not horrifying, just intense pain. To see your unit with a needle through it seemed like it would be gruesome and nauseating, but I only felt a sense of triumph and relief. It was done. All that was left was the insertion of the jewelry. With that I felt a tug and a slight pinch, and it was over.

I had done something that I was sure I couldn't do. I was proud. The job had been done excellently. To my happy surprise there was very little bleeding, and both piercers told me I handled it very well. I paid the man, drove home, walked in my house (which happened to be entertaining a party) and showed everyone. The soreness only lasted a few hours and the only bleeding I experienced was that first night, and it was by no means heavy. I got fairly drunk that night and blame most of the bleeding on that. By following all the aftercare instructions and eating well (along with vitamins) I began healing very quickly. I experienced only minor amounts of "crusties" on the barbell, and peeing was only scary for the first few times. It didn't hurt to pee; it was just somewhat frightening. In just under two weeks I went back and we decided that I was ready to downsize. That was a nothing, no pain, no blood, nothing. It was very quick and effortless. I was happy, strong a nd ready to take on the world. Then it happened.

Two days later on October 20, 2002, I was involved in a major car crash. Long story short, I was partially ejected from the car and ended up pinned underneath it while the car was on its side. I had to have emergency surgery to my kidneys and spleen to stop internal bleeding and to save the organs. I also had a punctured lung, a concussion and six broken ribs. Basically I am very lucky to be able to be writing this story right now. Anyhow I had to spend almost 2 weeks in the hospital, and for the majority of that time I was violated with a catheter. This required the removal of my new piercing. When I was finally given my jewelry back and let out, that was the only piercing that had completely closed up.

Through hardship and hurt that far exceeded any thing that I would wish upon any one, my spirit was not defeated. As much as I liked it and as much fun as I wanted to have with it and with as many girls that couldn't wait for it to heal so as they could "test drive" it, there is no way that I could have it any other way than to go back and experience the whole piercing all over again. And that is exactly what I intend to do as soon as my body has healed enough to undergo it. Who knows maybe I'll have to write a follow up for you all, and let you know how it goes and just how much fun it can be once its been had long enough to be put to its proper use.
