Do you know how thin the flesh is on the underside of your weenie? Before getting an apadravya or P.A., maybe you should check it out.

I got an apadravya over one year ago (my experience is in the apadravya section or BME), and boy, I loved it. It looked great, it felt awesome, it healed fast, and I wore it well.

I noticed within a month of the piercing that the bottom hole was not healing properly. In my journal, I wrote:

"The hole has stretched. The 14g barbell is sliding around in a hole that would easily accept a 10 or 8g. This was a surprise to me, I thought it was migrating or something and would have to take it out, so when I was in Toronto I dropped by Stainless Studios again to ask about that. Apparently it's quite normal and expected for the hole to stretch like that. There is some dribbling when I pee - but just a little bit. More like a moistness around the bottom (frenum) hole that I wipe off if the facilities are available."

"Perfectly Normal" was the answer, yes, it is completely natural for that piercing to get loose and stretch, and the frank advice from someone who knew soothed my worries and explained that his stretched even more than mine had already, but eventually his settled and has been secure ever since.

I attributed it to the pressure from my foreskin resting against the jewelry most all the time, & my girlfriend asserted that we did have a lot of sex, and that was the main factor. And it's not like I had a total cheese-cutter in there - I was wearing 10g. What ever the reason, the hole was definitely stretching. A Lot. So, after four months, when the hole had expanded so much that the piercing was pulling up snug to my glans, I took out the barbell, I would let it heal closed, and pierce it again later for added strength.

Remember the mention of "moistness" when urinating? Uh-uh. More like two distinct streams there by then, and the one that pointed straight down was a lot of fun. I remember being able to use a urinal and to relieve myself against a tree. Not anymore!

For the next 9 months I alternately wore a ring through the RPA hole, or nothing at all. I watched and noticed as the bottom hole *didn't* heal closed, and *didn't* get any smaller...

What I wonder is - what about that magical and firm keloid tissue that is supposed to form around a piercing, like a tough scar which keeps this sort of thing from getting worse? I have keloid tissue aroud my RPA piercing, which has neither moved nor streched one bit since the perforation itself. But not on the bottom. I suspect that if the flesh had healed *less well* and *less quickly,* there would have been scarring, and that flesh would have been much firmer than my ordinary sub-urethral skin, and the hole would not have expanded so much that I would be prompted to remove that piece of steel to which I had become very attached!

I really missed wearing the Apadravya. After 9 months without any kind of jewelry, I thought I'd give it another chance. Maybe after such a long wait, the piercing would have settled and healed and I would no longer have the problem with stretching that I did before.

One night two weeks ago in the bath, I grabbed my old 12g barbell and with some persistance, I got it back through the top (RPA) hole, and wore the apadravya again. After only a couple of days, I could put in the 10g again.

Last night when I was checking it out, I saw that after only 2 weeks - and under Not Overly Strenuous Circumstances either - I could nearly pull the ball end of the jewelry right through the pierced hole. It was never that bad before. It was happening again.

I took out the barbell. And I will never wear jewelry through that hole again - even though I will likely have that hole for life. I'm getting a curved barbell to wear through the Reverse P.A., which will be a bittersweet consolation, but a good compromise.

Why? Because the bit of flesh between the pierced hole and my urethra is really not very much any more. And frankly I am sexually active and that jewelry does get into vigourous situations. I have this terrible thought that I will inadvertently experience a sudden meatotomy in an intimate situation. I'm sure you understand.

I do not want to discourage anyone from getting the Apadravya. I loved it, it was great, and it's still my favourite piercing. However this could happen to you, so watch carefully while it's healing & take serious heed of any extravagant stretching, or, like me, you'll be "peeing double."
