Body piercing is a form of expression that has always intreagued me. I started out when I was 16 by getting my tongue pierced in my friend's basement by another friend. (not something I recommend). Then I went on to get my labret done last October at The Hole Thing in Lexington, Ky. What could I move on to next? I didn't want another visual piercing because then my parents would no longer be paying for my tuition (Purdue University). I had always thought about getting some sort of piercing in my penis, but never liked the look of the PA. After a few months of random thoughts about what to get, I made the decision to get an apadravya. I had previously read about it and seen it in a few Kama Sutra books. I liked how it mentioned that many women would not have sex with a man unless he had this piercing! I figured this must mean it has quite the positive effect for the female during sex. With that I had only to wait for the right time to go get this done.
I wanted to go to someone I could trust with handling one of my most favorite parts of my body. So I made the decision to return to The Hole Thing in Lexington, Ky. The problem with this is that I attend Purdue University, which is north of Indianapolis and I don't have a car there. So I had to wait until January when I would be in Lexington anyway. I was there because I play ice hockey for Purdue and we had games against Kentucky for a weekend. So, on a saturday, I went over to The Hole Thing and talked to the secretary about what I wanted. She had me talk to Greg, the piercer, directly about it. After a brief conversation, I learned that he was not in a good mood (after breaking up with his girlfriend and having an overall stressful day). He said that it was a bad time to do such an intense piercing and that I should come back later. Grrrrrrrr. I was upset, but it turned out to be good, because I still had 3 games left in my hockey season and over 10 games left in my lacrosse season. (being goalie for lacrosse i would have balls possibly flying at my penis at over 90 MPH.. so, bad idea.) So I proceeded to make an appointment for over spring break, when I knew I would be home (Louisville, Ky, about an hour away).
So as not to bore you, we will now jump through a time warp... ok, it's March 15th, 2001.. oops, too far... go back.. ok, March 15th, 1999... there we go!!
Anyway, after a few months of impatient waiting, I was all set to finally pay someone to hurt me physically by shoving a 12 guage needle through the head of my penis. So I called up the few friends that were home on spring break so I could have someone there to drive me home afterwards while I sat there with my pants open letting my penis "breathe". But of course nobody wanted to go, oh well, their loss! So I went alone.
I arrived about half an hour early for my appointment, so I decided to sit in the car and smoke a few clove cigarettes (Sampoerna X-tras) and listen to my brother's violent music to try and relax. That took about 2 seconds and I was completely calm. If you are planning to get this (or any) piercing, just don't worry about anything, it will end up hurting more if you sit there and feel tense about everything! So I got up the balls, i mean penis, to go into The Hole Thing. Once inside, I was greeted right away by the woman behind the counter, I wish I could remember her name right now. Greg was in the back room finishing up the preparations for my awaiting joyous experience. The establishment is upstairs in the back of a building, but VERY clean and inviting. The main room, has a few chairs, a water cooler, a few books with pictures of past victims of the needle (i should be in there), a main counter with jewelry in it, as well as numerous signs and posters explaining not to touch any piercings while there to keep it as sanitary as possible. Blah, blah... The woman gave me all sorts of paperwork about aftercare, healing time, problems and where to get help, etc. She then made sure I was 18 and then asked me about the jewelry that I would be wanting. They have all sorts of things in stock, but I would call ahead just to make sure they have (or will order) what you are looking for. I went with the 12 guage barbell and chose to have one black ball and one yellow ball (Purdue colors). She joked around with me for a few minutes before Greg emerged from his chamber of pain, i mean, the back room. I then was invited to go on back. He followed behind, closing the curtain so nobody could see my enormous.. umm nevermind.
The Back Room: This is the only other part of their place. It is not a very large room, but it has a long table (like the one's at the doctor's office, black with the paper on top... you know what i'm talking about.) There is also a billion types of cleaning supplies and other things to help in the process of different piercings. They have an autoclave there, so there is absolutely no need to worry about it not being sanitary. Plus Greg, is REALLY good about stuff like that, he changes his gloves at least 3 times or so for most piercings (while preparing stuff, not during the pierce of course!!) There is also room for any friends you wish to have watch, but i had none. Anyway, he quickly had me drop my pants (unfortunately not an uncommon experience....ok, i get a little drunk at parties and like to get a little naked... you don't?!?!) Ok, enough of that. So now I am sitting on a table, pants around my ankles, talking to another guy, GREAT! I then layed back and he told me that he needed to take a quick measurement. He did that and then told me he would be using a 1 3/16" barbell... i said sure thing, i figure he knew what he was doing even though i had figured i would have to get measured while hard. Oh well less weirdness for me!! :) He then went through all the steps that he was going to be doing for the piercing. He does this one completely freehand (no clamps, etc, just hands and a needle). Greg then looked at my penis a lot and asked whether I wanted the bottom ball to the right or left of the frenum, stating that is it usually more comfortable on the opposite side from which it would normally hang down in the pants. Mine goes to the right (weird considering I am left handed and pull to the left when I ummmm nevermind),Soooooo, the ball would be on the left. He then made two dots for entrance and exit wounds, showed that to me, and i liked it. I then layed back as he changed gloves again, and put 3 or 4 different chemicals around the area to make extra sure that it would be sterile. After that he just talked to me for a while about random stuff. Then he was ready and I was ready (not really, but as close as I would ever get). He set himself up in possition and told me to breathe in and out slowly like I had for the labret i got there. Around the time of the 3rd breath, I had this sudden sensation of sharp, unforgiving pain (what could it be?, oh yeah, i big ass needle stabbing my penis.) Most of my muscles tensed up for a brief second, but relaxed quickly so as to not cause any problems. He went halfway through and stopped for maybe 1/2 a second to make sure he was inline for the proper exit. He double checked and pushed the needle through the rest of the way. It was unreal how much it really did not hurt as much as I had imagined! I would compare it to my recent experience of getting hit in the helmet during hockey by an elbow and having my labret piercng catch on the chin guard and tear part of my lower lip. or maybe stepping on glass. Ok back to the point... of the needle.... was sticking out of the head of my penis now. So all that was left was to push the actuall jewelry in while pushing the needle out. This tool less than a second, and felt a bit uncomfortable, but nothing bad. He then screwed on the two balls and I was set. There was a slight tingle down there, but really i could barely feel any pain at all (unless it hit something). By this time I was well into the huge rush that overtook my body (the best feeling ever, kind of like heroin, oh wait, i have never done that). He had me sit up and look at it, i had a huge smirk on my face and was definately pleased. He made sure I felt ok, and talked to me some more as he cleaned up a bit. I jumped down and pulled up my pants, being VERY careful not to catch the barbell... cause, gee, that might just hurt a little bit!! Oh yeah, there was absolutely no blood what-so-ever!! always, a plus! He had the piercing down to under 1.5 seconds he told me. (though in pain time, that is like 1.5 hours, every millisecond counts!) He has done this a number of times and has it done himself, so he has enough experience with this that I would suggest him over anyone else I have ever met. NEway.. i went back out into the main room and got my bag of goodies (consisting of papers about care, a glow-in-the-dark bumper sticker- awesome!, a pen, and then i also was given sea salt and some anti-bacterial liquid soap for cleaning) I was so excited and ready to get home and then spend forever letting it heal...and then i was asked to fork over the cash to pay for it... all piercings there are 35 bucks, plus price of jewelry. Their jewelry is top quality stuff too!! I said goodbye to my piercing pals and carefully walked downstairs and to my car.
The drive home was filled with lots of small adjustments now and again, but i could not feel any pain at all. Walking was easy, sitting was done carefully, running and jumping were out of the question for a day, and sex was an experience that will only be in my dreams for a while. I showed my ex- girlfriend (she asked...right in front of her current boyfriend..hehe) her only response was "OH MY GOD!!" over and over. A few people know about it to this day, but I am not a dork like one friend that showed EVERYONE his PA at school, in classes, in the hallways, etc. (Keith, stupid pirate!)
I have yet to feel any pain since the initial piercing process. Two days afterwards I went hiking with friends for over 4 hrs and for many miles up and around mountains, no pain, except for falling off of a log a tried to walk across! Urine has so far no effect on pain. the only pain comes as dull pain whenever i bump something or catch it on my pants when pulling it out to go to the bathroom/putting pants on and off, etc. It has been just over a week now and I feel absolutely no pain when i bump things, etc and I am continuing to play lacrosse everyday!! Plus i have not had a single drop of bleeding, just a little pinkish color in some of the secretions as it heals. I personally clean it at least 10 times during the day, but that is just my preference. I use the sea salt in water twice a day, and the liquid soap the rest of the time. The soap will sting like crazy, but just bear it for a second. I also purposely get a partial erection now and again in hopes that it might somehow speed up healing as well as feel good. Make sure you keep your hands (as well as others) clean when touching the barbell, or anywhere near it. The main thing is to maintain a clean environment for your new friend mr. barbell, take showers every day, don't cover your penis in whip cream, saurkraut, woodchips, or any other fun things like you normally do every night (motor oil and Hydrochloric acid are really bad) Oh, you say you don't use that stuff, eh? just me....hmmmm. no comment.
So far I have only had 2 problems:
overall it has been a great experience, and 3 of the 6 girls i have told said they would "try it out" for me. It looks great and I would suggest it to anyone.
- i ALWAYS sleep naked and on my stomach.... so i had a hard time sleeping until last night (March 24)
- the barbell is a bit too short... so now I can see the advantage of measuring when erect. I remeasured while erect and I ended up being 1 1/2" thick, so 1 3/16" kind of hurt like hell when i got turned on during a movie a few nights after the piercing took place.
