When I was discussing a Frenum piercing during an appointment with Darryl at Retro Rebels in Aberdeen, Scotland, he was advising me about PA piercings and Frenums. He was saying that should I decide upon a PA in the future, it may conflict with the Frenum piercing he was about to carry out. I had to admit to him that at that time that I was cool with piercings going through the skin of my penis, but through the meaty fleshy bits, woah!!!, woah!!!, hang on a sec!!, the jury is till out on that one!!. Anyway, as I was driving home I began to think about what Darryl had said earlier. Over time this began to play on my mind, and I decided to research both PAs (including reverse PAs) and Ampallangs. I felt that Apadravyas would also impact upon my Frenum piercings, so I ruled them out. I felt myself being drawn towards the Ampallang. It looked really cool.

I had read widely differing accounts on how painful this piercing was, and read what the differences between a trans-urethral and non trans placement were. Gathering this information psyched me up to get one. I was now deeply convinced that this was the big piercing for me. It was now or never. My frame of mind was right, and an appointment at Retro Rebels was duly made for the following Wednesday afternoon with Darryl. Now I was committed, there was no turning back, and I was prepared for the experience.

I arrived at Retro Rebels at the appointed time to find out that Darryl was unexpectedly and at very short notice unavailable, but that his colleague Michelle was available to do the piercing. Unfased by this, I agreed, as I have no doubts at all regarding the professionalism of any of the piercing staff at Aberdeen. After a good, long and in depth discussion covering what the procedure would be to do the Ampallang, barbell size and placement, aftercare and healing time, she reminded me that this was a major piercing and asked me again if I was OK with carrying on. No problemo what so ever.

With the necessary paperwork signed, I hopped onto the piercing chair. After the marking and clamping, the needle with cannula went into my glans. As the needle and its cannula went through my glans, I can honestly say that it did NOT, most definitely did NOT hurt. Neither is my penis under-sensitive due to being circumcised. Michelle did not use any anaesthetic of any kind. The only sensation that I felt can only be described as localised pressure at the needle entry point I did not even feel the needle exit. Needles and sharp pointy things do not weird me out, so I watched to whole of the proceedings, really fascinating!. I must have a high pain threshold, or it could be the law of attraction working, as I mentally told myself time and time again that this would not be a painful procedure. I must have attracted a pain free piercing. Not that I would refuse a general or local anaesthetic for Hospital Surgery. Hey, I do have limits!!!.

The 36mm long barbell was inserted, the cannula duly removed, and the ball screwed on. There was also no real amount of bleeding, only just a single spot of blood from the external needle exit hole. Michelle applied a dressing as Michelle was concerned that it may start to bleed after I had stood up and walked away from the piercing chair. She checked that I was ok, and that I did not fell light headed in anyway. I was advised by Michelle to return in a week for a check-up, and to have the barbell length revised if it was necessary. I was a little concerned about it bleeding on the first erection I had after the piercing, but when this happened during the night, again only a small drip of blood was evident on the dressing. I am sooooooooo pleased that I had an Ampallang done. It looks absolutely fantastic from any angle, but that's only my opion.

During my research on this piercing, I had read many accounts stating that this was the "hardest" and most painful of all male piercings. I believe that descriptions of levels of pain are personal to an individual, and that the only way for you to find out how painful procedures are, are to experience them for yourself. One persons' excrutiating, may only be another persons pin prick. I found that the published accounts and experiences did not dissuade me from having this piercing but gave me a broad spectrum of feedback to call upon. You know your own body, and with this research knowledge that is available, make your own decision. Also talk to, and ask questions when you are with your piercer, their information is worth its weight in gold.

My many thanks again to Retro Rebels,Aberdeen for such a professional job again. My wife cannot wait to try it out!!! Now to plan more piercing, including the remaining 2/5 ths of my multi-navel project.
