It has been several years that I have been thinking about getting an ampallang, at least three years. But last week, since I was in Toledo, I decided to go to Michigan and get it done. I was really looking for a female piercer, but I could not find one anywhere, and one who could perform this type of piercing. I just feel more comfortable with a female looking at me.

I arrived near the tattoo piercing studio, and I decided that I better grab lunch first, and I was nervous. I could not even eat all of my food. I walked in and decided that I should not delay anything, and just tell the man what I wanted to do. In the past I use to look at the tattoo pics around the shop, since most places that I have been to do not have much or any piercing pictures. I think that tattoo piercing shops should have more pics of piercing pictures. I look at the pictures to just to try to calm down, and get use to the people who work in the shop. I would also delay it if there were any customers in the studio. At least there was no customers in the shop at the time of my arrival, since I like to have my privacy. He was actually quit friendly about it. He began talking about the piercing, and how it may bleed for several days. He discussed about all of the paperwork, and how he take the payment after the procedure has been done. He brought out the jewelry, and we had chosen to use 14 gauge, 1" 1/4 in length.
He began to prep the piercing room. I did not like how the room is not in a private room with a door, maybe similar to a tanning bed room is what I would like to have for a piercing room. He did have a curtain at least to add some privacy to it.
Now it was time to take it out, and slide it through the dental cloth thing. When he cleaned it and marked it, the decision was made to go above the urethra, which I like this better because I did not want to have any spraying issues, like the PA gives. I was very nervous at this point. But I was also excited since I had waited for this moment for a very long time now.
After cleaning, marking and measuring, it was time for the clamps. Now after reading stories about how painful the clamps are made me a little nervous. It turns out that it was not that bad, more discomfort than pain. He just kept on going tighter and tighter with the clamps, but I got use to it, the clamps had grip and just kept on digging into my head. He asked me if I wanted to have a surprise or a countdown for the needle, I said that I will take the countdown. OK three two inhale one exhale and the needle. The first second was not to bad, the rest was. It took 5 seconds of very intense pain. The needle was going through, and the after the second half of the head, it seemed like it got rammed through the head faster and faster. It seemed like he had to use a lot of pressure to get the needle moving.
Now it was time to insert the jewelery through the head. He walked out of the room to do something with the jewelry, but I wanted him to hurry up back since I wanted to get this done and I was getting cold. He came back and inserted the jewelry into my head and this part was easier than I had expected, and then tightened the jewelery. The next part was to remove the clamp. This did cause pain, but not as bad as the needle did. Luckily there was no blood. I wrapped it up and I was one my way. We used a glove to help wrap it so I dont have to have any blood on my pants and car seat.
I did have some blood in the morning, but not all over the sheets. I wore another rubber glove.
I would recommend this piercing to anyone who wants it. I would like to gauge it out gradually, maybe to at least a 4 gauge.
I do like this piercing better than the Prince Albert, I had it before, but I did not like the flow of my urine. But if you have an ampallang, I would recommend to get it above the urethra, so there is not any spraying issues.
