My interest in Body piercing began back in 1983 with an article showing a photo of an ampallang. I was so enthralled by just this one photo that I knew that one day I would get this ultimate piercing.

The chosen piercer was Patrick of London, whom "J" found when she had her nipple and clit hood pierced. Meeting Patrick and his wife Annie was quite casual and enjoyable. We had a brief conversation about their personal history as well as Patrick's training as a piercer. "J" and Annie continued their conversation as Patrick led me to his piercing studio, which at the time was attached to their home.
Patrick's piercing studio was one of the most sterile places I have ever been in, short of a Doctor's or Dentist's office.
I was instructed to remove my pants and sit back on a reclining examination table. Patrick measured me for my jewelry, which I decided would be a 8 gauge stainless steel barbell. He cleaned the area and marked both sides of my glans before giving me a shot of an anesthetic. (this one part of the procedure was different from how I had been previously pierced in the US and was one of the reason I opted to get this piercing done while on this trip.)
Patrick continued to prep his instruments for my piercing and explained that he would be performing a trans-urethral piercing for my ampallang. Every person I have spoken to since this piercing has a different thought about whether a ampallang should be a trans-urethral or not, my only issues with this I will address later.
By the time Patrick had explained his thoughts on the piercing, my penis was quite numb and ready for the next step.
Positioning the 8 gauge needle into place, Patrick had me take a few cleansing breathes. After the third breathe he started to push the needle through. Except for a slight adjustment to be sure that the needle was still going straight toward the opposite side, the piercing was quick and quite painless. Patrick followed the needle with the selected jewelry and secured the ball into place. I was instructed in the care of my new piercing as Patrick wrapped it with tissue and secured a rubber glove over my glans. "J" and I departed Patrick shortly there after.
Next morning I removed the wrapping and found a small amount of blood in the tissue, this was cleaned away quite easily with a morning soak and a shower. I had my first good view of my new ultimate piercing at that time and was overjoyed by Patrick's work. I left London quite the happy camper.
I have a couple of additional comments about my ampallang since that day.
By having a trans-urethral piercing, my healing time seemed quite short and I had not a single problem during the healing.
I have since enlarge the piercing to 6 gauge and envision going up to 4 gauge within a year. I have had barbells that have had balls that were as small as a 5/16 inch in diameter to as large as 1 inch in diameter.
I have enjoyed looking down and seeing the "Mickey Mouse" look of my penis. Since my split with "J" a number of years back, my subsequent sexual partners have not given me a single complain about this piercing, although I have never kept the 1 inch balls in while having sex. Hard enough walking with these slapping against my thigh.
Only downside to this piercing has been that when wearing any size ring in my P.A., I often get a bit of pinching as the ring comes in contact with my ampallang within the urethra. In my attempts to solve this problem I have had a P.A. wand and a 2 gauge beaded ring modified to take the barbell through them, but have found neither to be quite satisfying for long periods of time. I hope to send photos of both of these items in place soon BME, as I am now planning my next ultimate piercing... an apadravya. Which I hope to have a local piercer do once I have received my order of EMLA cream from the BME shop, maybe in the next week or two.
If anyone has any comments about this experience please feel free to email me. I would love to hear how others have dealt with having a trans-urethral ampallang and a P.A.
