I wanted to get an ampallang piercing for a long time. It was a spiritual thing to me. Not anything I would need to show off, just a piercing to make me happy. If I were interested in piercings for sexual pleasures, I would have probably gone with something else. It was personal pleasure that decided this one. I would continue on my path of changing my outward appearance to fit the person inside. I will one day be this person inside and out.

Not only would this be a spiritual journey, but a bonding between my friend and me. I decided on a 6-gauge barbell. We went in on Friday morning, and found out they would have to order the barbells. So we put the down payment, Matt told us to eat a big steak the night before. Waiting for this piercing was driving me mad.
After having to wait one long week, it was finally time. Thursday we both ate a giant steak hoping to thicken our blood. The next morning we arrived early so we went next door to eat some lumpia. For those of you who haven't had lumpia I suggest trying it.
At 12 we walked in the door with full stomachs. We sat down as Matt prepped everything. Since we figured both of them would take a while to complete we let a girl go ahead of us to get a navel jewelry change. After waiting a while my friend and I flipped a coin to see who would go first. He won. I'm glad he went first because this was his first piercing and I don't know how he would have felt about it after seeing me get mine done. We read all the info that was given to us, and Matt had everything ready. So he dropped his pants and sat down. The initial piercing went fine, but the jewelry insertion was a problem so he had to stretch the hole to a 4, and then put the jewelry in. He got the piercing above the urethra. (Which actually migrated down into the urethra recently) there were a few drops of blood nothing much. He felt really sick so he went to bathroom after everything had been finished. He said it was the clams he ate that made him sick. I got to take pictures of his and he may send them in.
I was next. I wasn't nervous feeling, but when my pants came down everyone could tell I was at least a little nervous. We decided to avoid any problems we would just pierce with a 4-gauge needle. Bad idea. He marked the entrance and exit spots, after a couple changes he got it where I wanted it. He clamped down and we were ready. After three deep breaths he started pushing the needle through me. I gripped the chair and let out a grunt. I watched the whole thing and saw the needle exit the other side. My friend said as the needle was exiting, I yelled, "oh ya, that's great!" or something like that. I had an out of body experience from this piercing. Of course it hurt, but it was one of the greatest feelings in my life. I don't know if anyone else has felt this way during a piercing, I would like to know though.
After that, blood, blood and more blood. Coming out of both sides and my urethra. Matt applied pressure for about 15 minutes. When we thought it was done bleeding he bandaged it and I stood up, I looked down thirty seconds later, and one quarter leg of my pants were soaked in blood. It bled very steadily for the next day and a half. Eventually it slowed down and now it is healing very nicely. I use provon to clean it, and also salt soaks.I believe all the blood is from the needle being bigger than the jewelry. My friend took pictures. They turned out a little dark, so we are going to lighten them and zoom in a little bit. I'm going to submit them to BME after that.
Some people say that you won't get any dripping or leaking from an ampallang, but I will tell you that mine drips a lot. I believe body modification is a spiritual thing. I am awaiting my membership into the Church of Body Modification; I just sent the donation yesterday. I just recently discovered BME; I'm hoping to have pictures sent very soon.
Here are some of the questions i had before the piercing:
Q: What is the technique used to do this piercing?
A: I was told they can either freehand pierce it, or do the clamping method.
Q: What is the expected time of full healing?
A: Between 6 to 10 months depending on the person.
Q: How many times a day should I clean it?
A: 3-4 times, soaks twice a day and wash it after urinating.
Q: If I ever let it close up ( why would I do a thing like that?) would it leave a scar?
A; There is a possibility of scarring but It should be only minimal
