After a couple of bad relationships I decided that I wanted to spend some time celibate. I now had a PA for over a year and loved it so I figured the next step would be to get an ampallang. A problem arouse when I realized that the artist I was accustom to using had quit piercing and went back to school for chemical engineering. (He aspires to design cleaner and safer trips) So I began to search for a trust worthy piercer that does genital work. I began by calling a local piercing and tattoo parlor called Blue Lotus that I had gone to for one of my nipple rings and asked about the piercers. They informed me that they had on artist on that week that would do the piercing. I made sure that it was not the artist I had had for my nipple, because I was not satisfied with the results. The artist then came out and spoke to me (i was relieved in finding it not to be the same piercer) and we set up an appointment.

Upon first arriving, the parlor's poor responsibility practices made me very nervous. First, I had scheduled to be the first appointment at open, 11 am, but when I got there at 11 no one was there to open the shop. I saw the piercing artist (Greg) in the bar below, and he explained to me that he was only a guest piercer for the shop and he was waiting for the owner to show up with the keys. Then at 11:30 the owner showed up to open and the piercer told me to just relax in the bar for a few minutes while he set up the room. (I joking told him that I couldn't possibly relax, and waited.) A few minutes later I went in to the shop to here the owner and the artist scouring the place trying to find the barbells. They then gave up and called the closer from the night before and asked where the jewelry was put away. Finally, the barbells where found and we could get started.

Next, came the pre-piercing routine. Greg went through the post-piercing cleaning care and sterilization speeches quickly since he knew that I had a few piercings already. Next, I jumped up on the doctor's chair for inspection of the best place to pierce. He then remarked on the placement of the prince albert being a tiny bit off-center. I told him that was done intentionally because of a natural pit there and that I did not want to got through the scar tissue from circumsision. Greg then drew some dots as to where he wanted to try the amp. The marks where high in the head, and I did not like the placement. I told him that I was hoping to go trans-urethral, so he drew some new dots and let me check placement. I agreed that the placement looked good and laid back to get ready for the "tough" part.

Ready for the piercing, he told me to start my deep breathing and continue through the push. I breathed full as my nerves began to ride high. During a deep exhale, he began to push and I felt a small prick and pushing. By my next breath, the needle was all the way through and I heard him step away. I sat up for a second to see the needle, then he returned with the jewelry and I laid back down. I felt more pushing but nothing painful. Then the push was over so I sat up. I saw the barbell in place and both balls screwed on and was filled with excitement. I called out "Its finished!" Hearing no response I asked, "its finished right..........RIGHT???" I looked around the room and saw Greg braced against a table trying to regain his breath. Finally, he sat up and agreed that it was done and showed me a large mirror I could use to inspect. I remarked on how happy I was with the placement and how straight it was.

After the piercing a friend and I sat and spoke with Greg for a while. My friend had heard about surface bar piercings on the side over the ribs and had questions. They set up an appointment to try this later on that week much to my dismay, (I had tried a surface bar and it rejected leaving a large ugly scar). While they scheduled I looked through his portfolio and was impressed to find that Greg had taken some Fakir intensives. He shared some stories of Fakir and told of other countries he was leaving for the following week to work in.

So while I was very scared at first, the experience was definitely a positive one. I still don't much care for the shop that I got pierced at, but I definitely found a new favorite piercing artist. I am currently waiting for Greg to return for Asia so that I can get a couple of dydoes.
