Ampallang: Ow!

Two months of web research on the Ampallang left me a little bewildered. It seemed that each source (including BME) had its own widely different opinions about the performance of the procedure, healing, and aftercare. I did know, though, that I wanted this piercing BADLY. I called in sick to work one day, grabbed the wife, and off we went to Pleasureable Piercings in Hawthorne, NJ.

I was very impressed with the layout and clenliness of the studio, and the professionalism of the crew. They have a very nice, well-presented selection of jewelry, and a good selection of videos and mags (including Body Play).I thought I was playing it smart by getting there about 1/2 hour after the place opened. It turned out that there were already 5 or 6 people ahead of me. More time to shake in my boots. I was VERY nervous about this piercing. I must admit to feelings of piercee "snobbery", overhearing the idle chatter of other "victims" in the waiting area. Navels, eyebrows, yada yada yada. Big Deal! I'm here to get the head of my cock completely run through with cold steel!I kept these opinions to myself, needless to say.I have a PA (2 months old, done @ Rising Dragon Tattoo in NYC)and a 10g frenum (7 years old, done @ Gauntlet NYC by Mark Seitchick), but I considered my ampallang to be the pinnacle of piercings, the piercing that would leave me wondering: "Where do I go from here?" Wouldn't you know, it sure has.

The throng of piercees began to thin a bit, and folks with fresh holes began to come out of the various rooms one by one. It turned out that half (or more) of the folks present were onlookers. This, I thought, would bring my turn around a lot quicker than I thought. It did.My piercer (Johnny)was soon calling my name, and I was whisked away to the procedure room. Again, very impressive sanitation and set-up. The room was very clean and perfectly suited for piercing. Quiet, private, comfortable atmosphere. I dropped my pants and hopped up on the table. Johnny began to look me over. With my shy little guy between his thumb and forefinger, he cleaned me up and looked at my cockhead from all different angles. A few attempts at markings (we decided to go non-transurethral) and it was time for the forceps. They didn't cause any pain, just a little pressure (much less discomfort than the receiving tube in my urethra during my PA). A few breaths (we all know the drill). By the end of breath number two, I could feel the tip of the needle against the tender, sensative flesh of my glans. I got that tingly, hyperventilating kind of sensation in my hands and feet as I sat there, eyes slammed shut and teeth clenched, awaiting what I knew would be a new, painful sensation. And then the needle.

Ouch. It hurt a LOT. The pain factor was about what I expected, but the duration was quite a bit longer than I thought. A LOT of tissue to go through here, even for...uh...smaller... guys like me. With the needle (finally) through, I thought the worst was over, but when the barbell (12 ga 1 1/4)was inserted, there was another rush of searing pain; just about as bad if not worse than the needle. To give you an idea of what kind of time frame we're talking about, from the time the needle first hit my cock until the time the barbell was through, I said "OW" about 12 times and let out a few choice words besides. To someone contemplating this piercing, I'd compare the pain to...well...someone shoving big needle through the head of your dick. I'm sorry, but there's really no other way to say it. You can compare a PA to getting caught in your zipper, but this is something altogether different.

I stood up (after a minute or two spent collecting myself)and looked. I couldn't believe I did it. It looked beautiful, the wife agreed. There was no blood in the studio, but a slow tricke about 3 hours later. This was only yesterday, and the bleeding has all but stopped, except for a drop or two when I wash and the dry blood comes away from the wounds. I'm still walking around with a wad of TP in my pants, just to be safe(I wear a suit & tie @ work).

I'm on top of the world! I sneak away at work just to go to the men's room and admire my freshly skewered member. This is a beautiful, perfectly placed piercing. I recommend it highly, but to the experienced piercee. All in all I'm very satisfied w/ Pleasureable. Check them out if you're in the area.
