When It just happened

About 4 years, I went ahead and got my nipples pierced. It was my 4th and 5th piercing that I got. Well, I got the left one done about 5 minutes before the right one. It was one of the most exciting experiences of my life to say the least. Of course there was pain, more so in the right than in the left. I kept them in for a years, and the left one healed perfectly - and it's still in, but I always seemed to have problems with my right one. Every once in a while, I would notice dried up sebum around the piercing. I'd clean it in the shower, but it would still hurt for a few days, then stop. This continued to happen throughout the duration of the piercing's existence, but I always figured it was normal. I then joined the Air Force in January of 2006. However, one day I got a little too rough with it during sex. It started to hurt more often than it did before. About a year or so ago, I finally took the circular barbell out of my right nipple and let it heal.

A year went by with me always feeling a little bit incomplete. Every time I'd look in the mirror, I would see how asymmetrical I looked, and I hated it. I finally decided that I wanted to get my right nipple redone. Now, from a lot of experiences I've read on this site, and other sites, I figured that getting a nipple piercing the second time around would hurt way more. I put it off for about 2 months until today, when I decided I'd head down to the piercing / tattoo studio and get it redone.

At around 11:00am, I called the studio and inquired about the price. $40 including jewelry seemed reasonable. However, they informed me that the piercer wouldn't be in until about 2:00pm. I had a friend who wanted to get her bellybutton repierced also, so I convinced her to come with me. We walked downtown. We grabbed a bite to eat, and walked around a bit. Every time I thought about getting repierced, I'd feel my heart start to beat faster.

Finally at around 2:30pm, we headed into the studio where we confirmed the price and procedure. I have 10 piercings, but every time I go to get a new one, I always feel the same feeling that I had when I got my first piercing - my ears at 14. However, this feeling was a bit more intense as I remember the pain from getting them done the first time. My friend and I agreed that I was to go first. She stood by in the room while I took my shirt off and sat down in the chair. My piercer proceeded to get everything ready, wiping down the counter and the table thing like a good piercer does. I agreed on a 12 gauge CBR since they didn't have any 12 gauge circular barbells at the moment. Both my nipples were originally done with at 14 gauge, but I stuck 12 gauge circular barbells in them about a year and a half ago. He examined my right nipple again, as he did 20 minutes or so earlier, and told me that the scar tissue was minimal and that the piercing could be done with no problem. He marked the spot, and got the needle and jewelry ready. At this point in time, I could feel my heart trying to pound itself out of my chest. He instructed me to take a deep breath, and that he would pierce my nipple on the exhale. I told him I was ready, took my deep breath, and exhaled. I felt the pressure of the needle breaking thru the skin, and I figured it was over. However, I realized that the needle wasn't all the way thru. It took a little longer than I had expected, but after another push, the needle went right thru. It was surprisingly a lot less painful than the first time. I really have no idea why that is, seeing that the pain was definitely there when I got them done the first time. He slipped the CBR thru and put the bead in, which was also relatively painless as well. I stood by my friend and watched as she got her belly button done. All was well with her. We went back to the front, got instructions on after care, paid him and left him a tip, and left. I was very content, but my nerves were still a bit shaky, so I had a cigarette as we walked to the drug store to pick up some saline solution and antibacterial body wash.

It's been about one hour since I got my right nipple repierced, and there's still no pain. Bleeding has been very minimal if not non-existent. I'm about to go shower and clean it for the first time. I'm hoping that this time, the piercing will heal correctly, and there won't be any problems with it.
