So, this is how it happened:
At A Glance Author number3 Contact number3@bme.anon When It just happened Artist Can't remember his name *Sorry!* Studio Rebel Rebel Location Cardiff, Wales, UK Ever since I was about 13 I have wanted to get something pierced or inked. The whole body mod thing was something that always interested me. At 13 I only really had three options; my ear lobes, my nose, or my navel. To get my ears done seemed a little boring. My navel and nose: too feminine. Getting a tattoo was out of the question; unless I wanted to find a studio with low enough standards to tattoo me at that age.
When I turned 14 I was able to get my eyebrow done or my inner ear. I knew that I wanted my eyebrow done, it seemed such a great idea, and it was so unique; no one else in my school had their eyebrow pierced. I started reading up on eyebrow piercing and looking at where I could get them done. After talking to my mother about it and getting the thumbs up, I started phoning around to see if I had to book. (Luckily) I didn't.
Before I got it done, I had to wait for my rugby season to end. However, before the season ended someone in my school got it done. It looked so bad that I was put off instantly and thought I'd wait until I was 16 and able to get another other piercing.
2 years later and finally it was here: my sixteenth birthday! I was as keen as ever and was still determined to get something pierced. I had narrowed it down to either a tongue piercing or both of my nipples. As with before I started looking into the procedures, prices and studios that would do it. Again I had to wait for the rugby season to come to an end before I could get them (sod's law would have it that this was my longest season yet!)
5 days to go!
I rang the Studio and even though I didn't need to make an appointment I informed them I would be there Saturday morning. Everything was sorted, well, almost. I had got the money together, and my mum had given me permission, the only thing was I still hadn't made my mind up on which one I wanted. The only thing I was sure about was that I was going in on Saturday and coming away with something pierced!
The big day!
I went into rebel rebel with my mother, my cousin and my sister. My cousin and sister came along because they also wanted something pierced. We thought we'd make a day of it! It was then I decided I wanted both of my nipples done. I met the piercer and told him what I wanted done. He told me that it was OK but before he pierced me he needed to put the clamp and the barbells in the autoclave and it would be ready in half an hour. Brilliant!
In the half hour, my sister got her nose pierced (one down, two to go!) We then went to get some food while I got more and more nervous. Well, I say nervous, I don't know what it was. I couldn't wait to get them I was just anxious about the pain. It was weird because I have a high pain threshold but I was still anxious.
Half hour later and I was back in the studio in a shining white tiled room on a bed with out my top off. He put some latex gloves on and drew two dots where they were going to be and asked if they were OK. I asked him to move both of them a little bit, he did and after checking in the mirror again I was happy with the placement of them. He showed me all the equipment he would be using and talked me through the procedure to clear up anything I didn't understand. He then changed his gloves again. He asked me to lie down and pulled the clamp and the needle out of a bag and pinched my nipple in the clamp, which was secured with an elastic band. He sprayed my nipple with ethyl chloride, which was very cold! He then put the needle through. There was a slight burning sensation for about 5 seconds (very bearable). He then removed it, leaving a plastic tube behind in which he placed the bar and pulled it back through.
He told me that was the first one finished and offered me a cup of water, I happily accepted. He then asked me if I still wanted to do the right one. I did. So I was asked to turn around so my right nipple was closest to him. I was a little more anxious about the right one. From what I had read on BME most people with a double nipple piercing said the second nipple hurt more. I asked him, but he said he didn't know. The clamp was places on my nipple and he pierced my right one. The right nipple did hurt a little bit more but again was very bearable. I was padded up with a few dressings, given sea salt, and aftercare information. I paid and left.
8 hours later and I can't stop looking at them! I love my new nipples and can't wait until they've healed completely!!
For anyone wanting to get it done, but maybe a bit unsure about it, just go for it, you only live once and they're an awesome pair of piercings. Pictures to follow!!
