Got them done!!!

Previously I have had my navel, and ear pierced, done by myself, I know, I know I was young and stupid once, but for some reason or another I removed them and let them grow up over the years. So when deciding to take the plunge and get another piercing it took some time to make the decision to do so. I mulled over it for about a month or more asking questions, looking on the internet as well. When talking with others about getting a piercing done I had to mixed results. Some encouragements, as well as a lot of haste even from people that I thought that I knew and were supportive. I would recommend that if you are thinking about it or wanting to get them done, to just go for it no matter what anyone else thanks. For me little more than a week ago today, I looked myself in the mirror and told myself not to have any regrets. So working up enough nerve to go threw with it I drove to our town's only tattoo and piercing shop and met with Bongo our local piercer and shop owner. After talking a bit about location, gage, after care, and the over all look that I wanted. We then walked into the back and got prepped.
For me the actual piercing didn't hurt as bad much as when I got them done. After disinfecting the area and marking the location. He opened what could only be described as a medieval torture device. These things looked like hemostats that clamped down on your nipple and wouldn't let go. But in my case they wouldn't lock so I had to lay there clamping down on my nipple wile trying to stretching or pulling on them, enough for him to slide the needle through. After the needle was through the skin and nipple torture device was taken off it wasn't half bad, almost neurotic with a slice of adrenaline on the side. The first night was kind of ruff sleeping to say the least! I am a person that likes to sleep on my stomach and so every time I moved or switch to my side I sure as hell felt it. To say the least I didn't get a whole lot of sleep that night. But for the next night I discovered band aides to keep the suckers down help keep the pressure off so I could sleep. After care isn't all that bad, the piercer suggested that I use Dr. Piecing's Aftercare. For anyone that hasn't herd of them before they are Q-tips with the active ingredients Benzalkanium Chloride in them. You snap one end and the medication is released into one end of the q-tip allowing a quick and easy way of keeping the wound clean and infection free. As well as using an anti-bacterial soap when washing. The whole process is quite simple and hassle free.
So far it's been about a week now and couldn't be happier that I got them done. They are a cross between overly sensitive and a little tender at times. But are healing up quite nicely, and loving them more and more each day. I fear that after getting them done I find that there is a strange feeling or urning if you will to get something else pierced. I have herd them called the gate way piercing and so far find it true. They leave you wanting more. And for now anyways I don't know if or what to pierce. I would like to take my nipples up a gage only because when doing them my piercer suggested that I chose a smaller gage because of having smaller nipples. But after having them in for a week I don't think that a larger size will bother me as much. Right now they are a 16 gage about 3/8" in dia. And look a little dainty for my taste. I was looking into stepping it up to a normal 14 gage with a little larger dia. and bigger ball size after the sterile ones come out. After looking around the internet and at my local shop I have narrowed my choices of jewelry down to a select few. So people like the short barbells which I am wanting to tryout as well as the Viking horse shoes that look interesting as well.
Do it for yourself and most of all have no regrets! The only regret that I have about them is not getting them sooner than I did. Have fun, stay safe and leave holes! You only live once so make the best of it while you can, and don't let what someone else thanks of you make the decision for you, do it for you.
