A lot of my older piercings have meanings or stories behind them and I wanted my nipple piercings to be the same. I knew for a while that I wanted my nipples pierced and but just wasn't sure when I would get them done. Gradually I began to get more and more impatient and decided I would get them done on a trip to Leicester. It was very fitting getting them done on that trip as Scottish Princess and myself were driving down to Leicester to meet a mutual IAM friend as it was her birthday. We were going to see Caroline June and also meeting Altered and MyDaydream. I thought two new sparkling metal bars in my boobs would be good souvenirs to take back home with me.

One place we were going to use was shut and we were a bit disheartened. Caroline knew another place we could try called Kazbah and it was open much to our delight. We spoke to the woman at the desk. Caroline paid her money and got her ticket to get her place in the queue to get her medusa pierced. I spoke to the woman and it was cheaper to get both my nipples pierced at once which was good as I'd hoped to get them both done. I paid my money (they did give my Scottish notes a strange look being in England) and they gave me my ticket. I started to feel really nervous. We were all blabbering crap at this point to try and distract ourselves from feeling nervous.
It was Caroline's turn to go upstairs to the piercer and Amy disappeared with her. It was then that I realised who I'd be asking to come with me. While Caroline and Amy were away I asked Stacey if shed mind coming up with me while I got pierced and she said she was fine with coming with me. We heard some "Ow's" travel down the stairs and it made me very nervous. A teary eyed Caroline came downstairs followed by Amy.
A million butterflies danced in my stomach, as I walked upstairs to get my piercing done. I was partly nervous about being pierced and also partly nervous about having to get my boobs out in front of a stranger. I said hi to Pete, who was the piercer and told him it was my nipples I wanted pierced. He asked if I wanted bars or rings in my nipples and I opted for bars. I was terrified at getting rings in case they got caught on anything and it hurt!!
Pete explained the procedure to me and told Stacey where she could sit. He then got me to lift my top up and my bra up and sit naturally so everything (erm) hung naturally. He asked me which way I was wanting my nipples pierced and I asked for horizontal positioning. He marked up where he would pierce and then got me to sit back on the chair. At this point I was very nervous and reached for Stacey's hand and apologised that she also be there while I was sitting with my boobs out. But I looked on the bright side. Being female too and its not like she's never seen boobs! The next thing I knew Pete had got out freeze spray and sprayed my nipples before I chance to object. I don't like to have piercings done with any numbing as I like to experience the piercing fully. Pete said he would do the right side first and as got the needle out that was when I looked away and braced myself. I felt a sharp sting through my whole boob and loudly went 'ow'. It was so loud that Caroline and Amy heard me and it made them giggle downstairs which cheered me up. Meanwhile the whole time Stacey was giving me reassuring smiles which made me feel better. As Pete had used the anaesthetic spray I didn't feel him put the jewellery in and he quickly moved on to pierce my left nipple. This was easier than the right as I already knew what to expect. It was exactly the same procedure, sharp pain as the needle went through and then some tugging as Pete put in the barbell. The pain wasn't unbearable or anything so don't let that put you off if it is a piercing you are thinking about getting done. As Stacey had watched the whole thing by now I asked her what she thought of my new metal and she thought they were good and pretty straight. I'm silly that way, I like to have someone else tell me it doesn't look really hideous as I'm a bit self conscious and would worry that something would make me look really silly or need smaller jewellery. Anyway, I repositioned my clothes and Pete gave me my aftercare sheet and told me to read it and that if I had any problems to go to a piercer when I got home as possibly the length of the barbells may needed to be altered as my nipples healed.
I was aware of an ache in my boobs as I walked downstairs with Stacey to meet the other two who had been waiting patiently. As we walked outside I was aware that I started to feel really faint and this NEVER usually happens with piercings. Everyone kept asking me if I was ok and I didn't want to appear silly so I kept saying yes but I honestly thought I was going to fall over. I found somewhere to buy some water and had a drink and felt lots better and was relieved that I hadn't actually fallen over and caused a scene!
Later that night it took some getting used to my newest piercings. I kept wanting to jump about and as I'd jump I'd then feel my boobs sting as I'd irritated the piercings. I couldn't feel them when I was walking about normally. I had no bleeding after getting pierced there was only the smallest bit of crusting. They were tender to the touch for about a month afterwards and then after that they settled down completely. I did need to get bars the changed for slightly longer ones as the originals were pulling and causing me slight discomfort.A year on the bars have migrated down in their positioning on my nipples and I was worried if it would ever stop but it did. Every now and again one nipple will flare and go crusty and inflamed for roughly a week and it will clear up again. Then a few months later the other nipple has a shot at doing this but it appears its just my body and what it wants to do. A definite bonus is that having my nipples pierced has made them far more sensitive.
Rather amusingly I have learnt I have to keep my boobs warm or having metal bars through your nipples in the cold can be extremely painful.Stacey and I are still very good friends and we still look back at that experience and smile. I tell her how very grateful I was that she held my hand and that I couldn't think of anyone better to given me their hand.
