I have been thinking of getting a few piercings for numerous years. Because of my parents I had to wait until I turned 18 to get any piercings other than my ear lobes – I was allowed to have one hole, and only one hole, in each ear. I researched the many different piercings available and decided to get my nipples pierced, as I had wanted to get them done for awhile and because it is a more personal piercing. I wanted to get pierced for me, not for anyone else. This was piercing that ensured no one would know about it unless I decided to tell them. Getting my nipples pierced seemed perfect.

My boyfriend was visiting me up at school over his birthday and he decided that he wanted to get another tattoo. We were recommended to The Ultimate Tattoos and Piercings by someone who had gotten a tattoo there and who also had a friend that was pierced there. The store was nearby so we decided to visit. I knew that this was my chance to finally get the piercings that I had wanted for so long, if, of course, the shop was safe and followed all protocols. The shop was very clean, well organized, and had a great "feel". The people were friendly and answered all the questions that I asked. They thoroughly explained their sterilization methods and showed me the new unused needle and the thoroughly sanitized equipment. They made me feel very comfortable and I was ensured of their professionalism. The piercer, in addition, was a nurse, which means that she was thoroughly educated in aseptic technique and was thoroughly comfortable with working with needles. All this convinced me to go ahead and get the nipple piercings.
I decided to get both my nipples pierced. I wanted to be symmetric and thought that it would feel funny if I had only one nipple pierced. I also decided to get pierced with captive bead rings, although not the ideal jewelry. I picked out a pair of 14 gauge, 5/8 diameter, to allow for swelling, surgical stainless steel captive bead rings.
I went into the piercing room, where Elizabeth reviewed the technique and showed me the seals on the equipment before opening them. I took off my shirt and bra and she cleaned each nipple. Next she marked both sides of each nipple so that the piercings would look symmetric. She allowed me to check the placement and made sure that I was satisfied. I approved and we finally got to the piercing part. The set-up took a lot longer than the actual piercings.
She clamped my nipple, lining up with the marks she had made for placement. She asked me to breathe deeply and held the new needle close to my nipple. When I exhaled she pierced my nipple. It went through easily and fairly quickly. It does hurt but it was over very quickly. She replaced the needle with the CBR and secured the ball. She repeated this with my other nipple. After both nipples had their jewelry she cleaned them up, removing most of the marker she used to mark where she would pierce. Before leaving, she reviewed the aftercare necessary for maintaining nipple piercings and healing.
My nipples definitely hurt more afterwards than they did when they were actually pierced. The piercing part, in my opinion, was actually less painful than the following few days.
I followed all the aftercare instructions, doing sea salt soaks twice a day. My left nipple was doing great and bleed very little, although I noticed that the jewelry in my right nipple had seemingly moved out in my areola. I waited a day, just to make sure that this was the case, and then decided to go back into the shop to see what was going on. My nipple piercing had migrated. Elizabeth looked at it and decided to remove the piercing and then replace at a later date.
I waited until my nipple had completely healed and went back into the shop to get it repierced. Elizabeth, again, went over all the sterilization techniques and aftercare instructions. I then got my right nipple repierced. The actual piercing seemed to go slower than it did before and seemed to hurt more, but it was not unbearable.
I would recommend this piercing to anyone that is willing to invest time into the piercing and take proper care of the piercing. I love my nipple piercings and have never regretted getting them, even though I had to get one repierced. They were definitely worth the little bit of pain. Although, I would recommend that you get pierced with a barbell, not a CBR. The barbell is much more conducive to healing than CBRs. If this is a piercing that you are interested in, don't write it off because you think that it will hurt too much, it does hurt but it was bearable, was extremely fast, and was, overall, a very good experience.
